Special: Late CNY FOTD and my family gathering!

For those of you who celebrate the lunar new year, happy belated new year! I've been traveling the last week to see friends and classmates in my previous school before they all jet off and disperse around the world, hence late posts!

This was the look I decided to do spontaneously on the first day of the new year. I used a matte pink blush as part of the pink eyeshadow look, kept things fairly natural but definitely hints of pink all over just because it's close to red!

Review: Laniege water sleeping pack!

Something that I've been hearing more and more of on blogs and youtube...the Laneige water sleeping pack mask!

I've actually been using this for more than 2 years...before it was advertised in Singapore if I recall properly. I bought mine on silkair flights when they weren't available locally yet. I think I've gone through 3 tubs now...the third and now fourth have new (and nicer) packaging!

They remind me of a similar products Za, Neutrogena, Biotherm and Estee Lauder have...these gel like mask are meant for hydration of the skin. They can help perk up dull looking skin but don't have any strong long-term effects such as whitening or anti-aging.

Special: Chinese New Year Goodies! (Food + pic heavy!)

To those who don't know...this coming Monday, the 23rd of January is the lunar new year! Or chinese new year or simply the 'new year' to the chinese diaspora!

It's a time for family, food and traditions, food is the one thing I'm most interested in! Here's just a bunch of photos of snacks and goodies we've bought so far...and directly below is a photo of a yu sheng which is a appetizer dish.

The different ingredients have meanings, we shredded our own fresh ingredients, raddish, pear, carrots, cucumbers, abalone, jellyfish and much more for freshness instead of using just the ingredients provided in pre-packed yu sheng which we use.

The yu sheng or lo hei prepared for tonight's pre-reunion dinner (reunion dinners are the day before new years day, which is tomorrow!)

Just check out the entire aisle of cny snacks and goodies! To fill living/dining room trays!

Quick look: L'oreal color appeal eyeshadow quad in Summer Caresses (swatches!)

Just a quick look at something my mom bought maybe 2 years ago now! Totally discontinued, no where to be found in Singapore anymore as most things in permanent lines in the US/Canada or Aus. This quad was from the Color Appeal line and has some easy to use shades!

 Continue below for lovely swatches!

L'oreal color appeal quad....the packaging was ONCE lovely.

A small mirror and sponge applicator is included...I really find the small mirror better than nothing!

Things to trash! (last months of 2011)

Similar to local blogger Haru of Rouge Deluxe she has a post called 'operation use it up' and I'm going to start a 'things to trash' post. I've taken photos in the past few months of things I've used up before throwing them away. Since then I haven't posted about them yet, most are skincare/hair care.

Here's a bunch I've collected from the last quarter of 2011...short rants on the products are attached!

All 14 items shown have been finished by this post!

st ives apricot scrub, Previa shea butter treatment, the body shop rainforest shine conditioner
  •  $5-6  Love the scrub, I've had times when I use this almost daily for bumps on the sides of my face. No so much anymore as my skin's improved. This is great for oily and bumpy skinned days.
  • Handed to me by my mother for dry hair, although it smells like chocolate it didn't soften or change the texture of my already normal hair.
  • $16.90 - Had to use a lot of the conditioner to coat my thick hair, I didn't get any scent/soften from it, would not buy this again.

Food: Jaffa and Bourbon biscuits from M & S!

Some lovely biscuits I picked up from Marks & Spencers last year. I'm a fan of anything chocolate that's not too sweet and orangy flavors. I've had jaffa before but from a local uk brand when I was in england.

Review: Clinique Full Potential Lips Plump & Shine mini duos (duty free only/ swatches!))

It's my last semester in highschool, yipeee! Can't wait to get out but I'm definitely going to be missing somethings!

This I picked up for the second time. I first bought this exact set in Korea 3 years ago and then again a year later in the duty free in Italy. It's only sold in duty free but I've seen a few sites carrying this.

They are mini versions of Clinique's full potential plump & shine glosses, they are so useful to have and come in very wearable shades!

Note: There's one duo missing from this photo directly below. I've got a photo of all five near the end of the post. (it was a duo that went missing, it was old and ready to be thrown out! )

Review: Canmake Check & Cheek blush duo in 01 (swatches!)

Here's a little something I picked up for some photography I did for art a while back, I used it in this photoshoot here for a unit I did on stereotypes and the concept of Asian beauty.

I would not have typically picked this duo as I'm not a fan of baby pink or oranges but I've got to say that these blushes are really great quality and I've come to appreciate the colors very much!

FOTD: Easy neutral with winged liner!

Firstly I hope the new layout is looking good! I realized that the organization of the traditional template was not very great and now everything is more easily accessible. A new year with a new layout!

This is sort of a 'go to' neutral look. I have quite tiny lid space when my eyelids become double from using mascara so I usually would go with two colors and liner. Here I've used a dark chocolate brown and very light sand color. Topped off with my new favorite gel liner from Kate and I'm off!

Quick look: Majolica Majorca Rouge Majex lipgloss in BE706!

Just a quick look at a Rouge Majex lipgloss I got last year. I bought a pink toned brown nude shade, I'm quite sure it was BE 706...if not then BE 205!

Quick look: Navy striped nails w/ The Face shop polish!

Just some fun nails I did with regular polish and a nail art brush!

Blue nail polish is from The Face Shop and the white polish with a pen tip & brush tip is from Sinma.

Special: Box of forgotten items!

In the process of helping mom clear out the spare room I found an old moon cake box filled with goodies! (none to be consumed of course!)

Love getting my hands on little things!

Quick look: NYX Round Lipstick in Spell Bound!

Just another round lipstick from my NYX Haul last year! This is spellbound, a creamy finish bright pink. I love the formula of these lipsticks, spellbound in particular is creamier than the others I've tried and it has a slight orange undertone that makes my skin glow. Sorry I forgot to swatch this one!

Review: The Body Shop Olive Body Butter & Scrub!

Some lovely stuff from The Body Shop that I actual do repurchase despite their ridiculously steep prices! The only things I've ever repurchased from them time after time are their body and foot scrubs as well as one of their new shampoos.

In the past I've their lemon body scrub and it nearly killed my skin! It was so greasy when applied and the greasy feeling just wouldn't wash off properly. Afterwards when my skin dried it was unbearable itchy and dry. Just crazy opposites with one product!

Then I got the Olive body scrub and it was great. At $S30.90 a tub for this stuff, I'm glad I've got a loyalty card now!

(Late) Haul for Dec 2011 (Essence cosmetics, food & clothes!)

Happy New Year everyone!!! Getting on with a late haul post! Oh my...I could not have been happier when I saw this (below) at the Watsons in Takashimaya which is the biggest outlet in Singapore....I was like "Holy shit!!! Essence is in Singapore!"

Even though it's a commonly found European drugstore brand it was such a nice surprise as nothing cosmetic ever sells under $15 in Singapore....the products were priced higher than they would be in Europe/US but everything is very inexpensive....single shadows for $3.30? Are you kidding!! No such thing in Singapore drugstores ever. Wow! I will be back for more!
