Special: Sunday Brunch for my boyfriend's birthday!

Hello everyone! It's been 5 years since my last post and A LOT has transpired. I recently actually watched the movie Julie+ Julia...or is it Julia+Julie? Basically the protagonist starts a blog as part of her cooking journey through Julia Child's famous cookbook and that reminded me about this blog that I used to regularly write!

The next couple posts or so will be old draft posts I want to put out before I start putting out 'new' and more recent stuff. I'm not quite sure if I want to still include a mix of food/travel so we shall see!

Lunchdate: Black smokey eye and Tandoori with Naan!

Smokey eyes and tandoori chicken! Indian food is definitely enjoyed in my household although we don't eat it as often as our usual chinese singaporean foods. There's a casual Indian food joint called 'Prata Wala' the boyfriend and I like visiting now and again and our favorite thing to get is the tandoori naan set for two which comes with beautifully roasted tandoori chicken, freshly baked naan bread and a spread of vegetable curries and fresh salad.

Food Post: Things eaten out and home made! (Jan/Feb 2017)

Colorful and tasty! Yes, that's right, I like my food tasty but also very colorful! I'm sure many of you must have heard that eating food in a wider range of colors means that we are getting more vitamins and minerals and so that's what I do and eat religiously by! Today I've got shots of meals I've mowed down earlier this year, I hope nobody is hungry while scrolling through this post or I can gaurantee you will leave half way to grab a snack!

Holiday Special: Day 5 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 5 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! It's been a long time coming since I wrote about my trip to Phuket last year. Day 5 was nothing but a day full of feasting from the time we woke up till the time we went to bed!

I had searched in advanced about the top places serving a fancier sunday brunch and settled on Twinpalms Resort which is one of the higher end resorts in Phuket which was about a 30-45 minute drive away from the area we were staying in. The day took a fun turn when we ended up at a cat cafe in the afternoon for about 2 hours before exploring an open market street in town.

Some months ago in November my mother celebrated her birthday and as a family we went to check out a popular chinese restaurant in the middle of town for their a la carte style lunch buffet perfect for groups! It was the first time for all of us visiting so we had high hopes and we intended to try as many of their dishes!

Romantic purple look and Lasagna for Christmas 2016!

Dreamy purples and delicious Thai! Throw yourself back about 6 months and that was around the time of December! As my family doesn't celebrate Christmas but my boyfriends' does I went over to his family home to have a delicious home made beef lagsana not before having thai food for lunch! No festive period is complete without food and lots of it and when it comes to make up, I like going a bit bolder or brighter!

Food Posts: Everything eaten in November and Decemeber 2016! (burritos, tempura, prawn cakes)

Foodie fiesta! For the last two months of last year I had a couple more interesting meals. One was a Mexican meal with my girlfriends, a Thai dinner out with my family and some yummy home made Japanese tempura. I've learned to not go crazy with my camera, taking photos of everything like I used to when I was younger so here are my top snaps from November and December!

Holiday Special: Day 4 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 4 in Phuket Thailand! Bringing my blog day four from my gorgeous beachy holiday to Phuket last year in May! We basically spent this day slowly, waking up late and going back for the second time to an Indian/Lebanese/Thai restaurant which we had dropped into before for a snack and discovered that the food was real good!

Later in the evening we went to visit the night market which was lovely although so crazy warm as the bulk of it was under one roof and everyone was sweating like crazy despite fans here and there!

Late night supper: Swee Choon Tim Sum!

Supper time with Dim Sum! Some months ago while I was working night shifts at my previous work place I would meet with my boyfriend when I finished at 1:30am in the morning and we'd go have supper. My evening meal break would usually be around 4:30pm or 5pm so I'd be pretty ravenous by then. After going to two places on alternate occasions I decided it was time to look for a new supper spot. Singapore doesn't have too many places open 24 hours or late into the early morning hours so this established old school dim sum house seemed like a great choice.

Holiday Special: Day 3 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 3 in Phuket Thailand! This travel post is from last year when my boyfriend and I took a trip just before his birthday in May. On our third day, I had booked a full day trip where we would go island hopping covering 7 islands but the main attraction of the day was our stop over and lunch at the Similan Islands which are only opened for a few months of the year.

It was one of the best trips we'd been on while on a beach holiday and we had never seen such gorgeous azure blue waters. Highly recommended for those willing to spend a full day on an ocean trip! Keep in mind, none of my photos have been altered in any way! The colors are true to what my camera captured!

Lunching at Wheeler's Yard!

Lunching to reward myself! Wheeler's Yard is a well known cafe outlet in Singapore known of its theme of bicycles. This outlet which I visited is the original and serves as a cafe, rest stop for cyclists and also has a bicycle shop. I've seen it all over instagram in Singapore as their infamous metal gate with bikes have people snapping photos left, right and on repeat due to how photogenic it looks.

Date night: Teal smokey eyes and thin crust pizzas at Alt Pizza!

Date night with pizza! For those who didn't know pizza isn't a 'cheap' food here in Singapore...not at all! Even take away pizza meals for 2 could buy you a casual restaurant meal. That plus considering the huge variety of local foods in Singapore being available very cheaply at hawker center and food courts, pizza isn't eaten very often by most folk here. Pizza companies and authentic Italian pizza places have grown in numbers the last many years and it's very easy to find places all over Singapore making pizza properly and in different styles too!

My boyfriend had tried a pizza joint called "Alt Pizza" which his family sometime ago and with his recommendation we headed there for dinner!

Holiday Special: Day 2 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 2 in Phuket at Patong Beach! For our second day during my trip to Phuket Thailand with my boyfriend back in May over his birthday we spent the day mainly on the main strip of beach followed by a really great local seafood dinner! Although Patong is known as one of the tourist filled areas of Phuket, we didn't encounter a super packed beach or streets at the main street during the time of our visit!

Day out in town: Tanuki Raw for lunch and Paris Baguette!

Bowl of goodness! For the last many months I've been finally adjusting to a more equal work and life balance. No one can really make you understand how to do it, and it's all about trial and error. I'll admit it hasn't been easy and some weeks you feel like you're just waiting for your rest days just to put your feet up and get stuff done that you can't do around your work days. Some weeks back I decided to give a place a shot which I'd been seeing all over local instagrammers feeds and it was pretty much an afternoon along Singapore's much famed shopping street Orchard Road.

The place we went to is known for their Japanese style of rice bowls with different types of meat, I really wanted to try the beef slice and foie gras option which they are known for!

Holiday Special: Day 1 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Awesome first day in Patong Phuket! No guys, I'm not on holiday right now, this gorgeous holiday to Phuket, Thailand was from back in May for my boyfriend's birthday and was an advanced treat ahead of our 4 year anniversary which is in June. So I basically have two types of holidays I love, visiting busy cities or beach side towns! The last time I was in Phuket was a few years before the tsunami in 2004 when I was a child. I decided on staying in the much popular Patong area which is about half way down the west coast of Phuket Island.

On our first evening we checked into our gorgeous resort hotel which was a short walking distance to the main street. We headed straight to have a local dinner, check out the area around and we finished the night with cocktails and some minimart shopping!

Special: Celebrating Grandma's 82nd Birthday at Corner House!

Happy birthday Grandma! My grandmother turned 82 earlier this year in July and to celebrate I brought the family out to have a fine dining experience at the much famed Corner House. Some years ago as part of my apprenticeship for my Hospitality Culinary Diploma I was a trainee at a fine dining place at the very internationally known Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The executive chef at the outlet I was at is now the chef and owner of Corner House which is located in the Botanical Gardens. It was only in recent months that Michelin Stars were given out in Singapore and Corner House was awarded one star!

I'd actually been wanting to give Corner House a try for the last two years since it opened in 2014 but as time passed and I was so busy with life things that I didn't ever make it a reservation but knowing my grandmother's birthday was coming up I proposed to my family and we made it a date!

Cotton Candy Eyes and Ramen Dinner at Ippudo!

Candy colored eyes and rich ramen! Having worn mostly neutrals the last year for work the times I was free and going out I would do either simple but bold looks or more fun colorful looks! Here I did a cotton candy purple inspired look with a touch of blue which I love when it comes to eyeliner. For dinner my boyfriend and I had delicious rich bowls of super authentic ramen at the famous and popular Ippudo which is an International franchise specializing in Japanese ramen noodles! Since this trip, we have gone back two more times and would love to go back again!
