Holiday Special: Day 5 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 5 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! It's been a long time coming since I wrote about my trip to Phuket last year. Day 5 was nothing but a day full of feasting from the time we woke up till the time we went to bed!

I had searched in advanced about the top places serving a fancier sunday brunch and settled on Twinpalms Resort which is one of the higher end resorts in Phuket which was about a 30-45 minute drive away from the area we were staying in. The day took a fun turn when we ended up at a cat cafe in the afternoon for about 2 hours before exploring an open market street in town.

Holiday Special: Day 4 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 4 in Phuket Thailand! Bringing my blog day four from my gorgeous beachy holiday to Phuket last year in May! We basically spent this day slowly, waking up late and going back for the second time to an Indian/Lebanese/Thai restaurant which we had dropped into before for a snack and discovered that the food was real good!

Later in the evening we went to visit the night market which was lovely although so crazy warm as the bulk of it was under one roof and everyone was sweating like crazy despite fans here and there!

Holiday Special: Day 3 in Patong, Phuket Thailand! (May 2016)

Day 3 in Phuket Thailand! This travel post is from last year when my boyfriend and I took a trip just before his birthday in May. On our third day, I had booked a full day trip where we would go island hopping covering 7 islands but the main attraction of the day was our stop over and lunch at the Similan Islands which are only opened for a few months of the year.

It was one of the best trips we'd been on while on a beach holiday and we had never seen such gorgeous azure blue waters. Highly recommended for those willing to spend a full day on an ocean trip! Keep in mind, none of my photos have been altered in any way! The colors are true to what my camera captured!

Holiday Special: Food, Beauty and Shopping Haul from Bangkok! (March 2016)

Bangkok Hauling! This haul has been long awaited! It's from all the way back in March of this year when I had visited Bangkok for a much needed break with my mom and we did quite A BIT of shopping! This time I didn't go as crazy with the make up but we spent more time eating and getting bags and clothes.

It's a shame that Bangkok is restructuring many areas in the city where street vendors selling clothes and accessories will be moved as well as temporary food stalls that pop up only at night. This was announced a few months ago in part of their effort to clean up and make the city more organized for both the vendors and easier for tourists and patrons to enjoy the stalls. Whatever the case, I will always travel back to Bangkok year after year!

Holiday Special: Day 3 in Bangkok, Siam Square, Street Food and Central World! (March 2016)

Siam Square Street Food and dinner at Central World! Day 3 in Bangkok with my mother earlier this year was basically a day of lots of food and walking around from mall to mall! We started off our day at Siam Square which is in the center of Bangkok and our favorite place to get lunch and to shop before walking to the malls near by and then talking a longer walk to Central World mall where we had dinner at our favorite hot pot thai restaurant.

My favorite part of the day as you will see below was checking out all the street vendors outside the large malls. Especially outside and along Central World mall! Freshly grilled, deep fried and cooked snacks from late afternoon till late at night!

Holiday Special: First Evening in Bangkok, Audrey's Cafe & Bistro! (March 2016)

Touch down and back in Bangkok! As always I was back in Bangkok last month was my mom! It's become a yearly affair that we visit Bangkok for short food and shopping trips. For those who have never visited, Bangkok is the epitome of tourist friendly, with tones to visit, experience, eat and buy! This trip was my first 'break' since starting my new job back in last November so it was much looked forward to. We arrived in the late afternoon and by the time we made it to our rented apartment and checked in we only had time for dinner that night before resting.

It was such a coincidence that a highly recommended pretty cafe was walking distance from our place which unfortunately isn't located near a BTS (train station). Luckily there were sooo many western, japanese and local bars/ restaurants just around our place!

Holiday Special: Day 7and 8 in Bali, Indonesia! (April 2015)

Balinese cuisine and beautiful Ubud! For those who have followed this is the final installment in my Bali holiday travels posts! There are four other installments before this one of my various days in Bali earlier this year when I went on holiday with my boyfriend. Our one week holiday on the gorgeous Island was split between staying mostly in the busy tourist packed Kuta area and then the quiet more culturally rich center of the Island Ubud.

Ubud is much further inland but still has plenty for tourist to visit, experience and enjoy. Bali is a huge Island and I really do wish we had a few more days to explore and visit more! There is so much rich tradition, history and places to visit, let along delicious amazing local food which we manged to try a bit of while in Ubud!

Holiday Special: Day 6 The Mulia & Rock Bar in Bali, Indonesia! (April 2015)

Sunday at The Mulia and Rock Bar by Ayana Resort! The next installment of my gorgeous vacation in Bali is here! Today I bring to my blog day 6 of my holiday which I took with my boyfriend at the end of April. Like any smart traveler, I did plenty of research and decided that I wanted us to indulge in a fancy hotel brunch since we had a Sunday on the island. Also after being told that I HAD TO visit the rock bar, I googled it and told my boyfriend it was on our 'must do' list whilst in Bali!

I have absolutely no regrets having to book a driver to bring us more than an hour and a half all the way to The Mulia Resort to have their famous Sunday brunch at the Soleil restaurant. Despite the variety of food being half the size of Sunday brunches at similar hotels in Singapore like the Ritz Carlton, the quality and most important level of service and attentiveness was beyond any experience back in Singapore! The Rock Bar too was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I wish we could be teleported back on days where I want somewhere to chill, think about life and having awesome cocktails and finger food.

Holiday Special: Day 5 in Bali, Indonesia! (April 2015)

Casual Brunch, retreat to Ubud and Babi Guling! Today I bring you day 5 from my week long holiday in Bali! Day 5 was a relaxing day much like the previous day except that we moved from our beach side hotel in Kuta to our Villa room in Ubud which I booked through Airbnb! Ubud which is known as the cultural and arts center of Bali, it also is much more peaceful and so easy to get around on foot.

We were also very satisfied with the accommodation we booked as the compound looked like a lush jungle and was gorgeous. Despite being a far from Ubud's center by foot, we had transport which took about 10 minutes one way from our accommodation that would send/pick us up as long as we told them 30 minutes in advance.

Check out my (first two days here) where we visited the beach and (day 3 and 4 here) where we went snorkeling and had a seafood dinner on the beach! For those keen on my travel post when I visited (Krabi, Thailand see here!)

Holiday Special: Day 3 and 4 in Bali, Indonesia! (April 2015)

Snorkeling, pools and a BBQ seafood dinner! Bringing you day 3 and 4 from my week long beach holiday to Bali which took place at the end of April! Unlike the majority of our mornings on holidays, our second day in Bali started off before the crack of dawn as we waited for an early pick up from our hotel for our Snorkeling trip which I had booked in advance with a very popular and reputation diving company called, Blue Season Bali!

It was a first proper snorkeling trip I've done is quality waters with stunning marine life and I totally will be saving up to buy a waterproof case for my camera in the future! Our third day was very relaxed and we ended up taking a taxi to the famous Jimbaran beach to have a BBQ seafood dinner while watching the sea and sunset!

Holiday Special: Day 1 and 2 in Bali, Indonesia! (April 2015)

Selamat Pagi from Bali, Indonesia! After months of planning, booking and lots of anticipation my boyfriend and I took a gorgeous 8 day long vacation to Bali at the end of April! I of course did our rough itinerary planning of where we were going to stay, for how long, where we had to visit, cafes to visit and so on, all of which paid off!

Today I bring to my blog our first two days in Bali! For my boyfriend he had been to Bali before when he was younger but for me, it was my first time! For our first few days on the island we stayed at the Mercure hotel in Kuta! My choice of staying in the Kuta area was really a great choice as the location of our hotel was perfect! Across the beach, near lots of shopping, massage parlors, food and even malls and a huge water park!

Holiday Special: Day 5 in Bangkok, Thailand! (Jan 2015)

Day 5 in Bangkok, Thailand! For those who have followed my recent holiday posts, this is the last day and post to my 5 day holiday back in January to Bangkok with my mother! We spent our last day having a delicious brunch at a cafe just around the corner from our hotel before heading off to the airport!

Bangkok is a great city for first time traveler to south east asia and is just so full of delicious food, street markets, affordable goods and great experiences! If you're a party person there are plenty of clubs and places for night life or if you like historical places there are plenty of palaces, wats and temples to check out too!

Holiday Special: Duty Free Haul from my Bangkok Holiday! (Jan 2015)

Duty Free Hauling! Hey ladies! This duty free haul was from Bangkok's International airport! I had taken a trip to Bangkok with my mother earlier in January and for those who don't know their duty free selection for cosmetics is pretty freaking INSANE. They usually have 95% of everything in stock (UNLIKE SINGAPORE'S COSMETIC SECTION) and they have got a much wider range of brands sold in their duty free too which is such a pleasure to browse! I usually take at least 45 minutes- 1.5 hours to browse, compare and decide on what I want to get because their selection is awesome!

A nice bunch of beauty items that I wouldn't pick up normally while shopping! (Shu Uemura cleansing oils, Nars Lipstick and eyeshadow, Shiseido foundation stick, Maybelline mascara and a Dior travel palette)

Special: Chinese New Year 2015! (Reunion Dinner and visiting family)

Happy year of the Sheep! To be honest I'm not quite sure if it's a goat or sheep this year as half the portrayals of the animals look like fluffy sheep and the other half have horns and look like goats! Apparently it's the year of the 'ram' to be most specific! I wish all those of Chinese descent a prosperous and happy year ahead! As a chinese Singaporean and living in a country with a predominantly Chinese population the lunar new year is a big deal here.

Expect red and gold lanterns and decorations all over town, supermarkets filled with shelves and rows of traditional snacks and foods for the occasion and streets in Chinatown shut down for temporarily stalls to set up to do business of goods and foods! We also have a public holiday but unlike China or other Chinese countries ours is only a day or two and not a week or two!

Holiday Special: Day 4 in Bangkok, Thailand! (Jan 2015)

Day 4 in Bangkok, Thailand! Here I have my forth day of my Bangkok holiday that I took with my mom earlier last month! It was trip that was basically all shopping, eating, walking everywhere and great foot massages! For those who haven't visited Bangkok it's one of the best cities to visit in south east asia for food, modern malls and historical places!

On day 4, we basically visited MBK center and then chatuchuk market, however although it was a friday there were only about 20% of the stalls open! Our flight back was on Saturday evening and hence we decided to just drop by around 6 when there were some shops open to take a look!

Holiday Special: Day 3 in Bangkok, Thailand! (Jan 2015)

Day 3 in Bangkok, Thailand! It was almost a month ago that my mom and I had a 5 day and 4 night trip to Bangkok. In the past we've visited bangkok quite a few times as it's so affordable to fly there and stay at a good hotel. Popular with many people in Singapore also as Bangkok boasts such a great variety of fresh authentic cheap food, massages, shopping and more! This post is of our third day in Bangkok! I tended to take a lot of photos of food and not so much of our surroundings so please excuse me!

For those who missed or would like to see my Day 1 (see here), Day 2 (see here) or my big make up haul (see here)!

Holiday Special: Make up haul from Bangkok, Thailand! (Jan 2015)

Make up haul from Bangkok, Thailand! For those of you who have read and followed my recent Bangkok holiday posts I definitely did a ton of make up and skincare shopping while I was there. There are plenty of amazing local brands that are of great quality and in general are sooooo much more affordable than singapore!

For example pressed powder goes for average of $4-10 SGD in Thailand whereas drugstore brands in Singapore cost $15-30 on average. I did most of my make up shopping at Beauty Buffet, Karmart, 7-11 and the local supermarkets!

If you missed my recent holiday posts check out Day 1 (see here) and Day 2 (see here) of my trip in Bangkok! I will have separate posts for my duty free and skincare purchases!

Holiday Special: Day 2 In Bangkok, Thailand! (Jan 2015)

Day 2 in Bangkok, Thailand! For those who saw my first holiday post, I recently visited Bangkok with my mother for 4 nights and 5 days! We spent our entire time eating, eating, shopping, shopping and walking around a lot! On day 2 after a simple noodle breakfast and a stick of BBQ chicken hearts we took the train into town where I visited Beauty Buffet (which I planned to visit) and then the supermarket for pet snacks and the pharmacy!

Holiday Special: Day 1 & 2 in Bangkok, Thailand! (Jan 2015)

Day 1 & 2 in Bangkok, Thailand! I recently was away for 5 days with my mom on a food and shopping trip to the most awesome and jam packed Bangkok! My blog ran as normal as I was gone as I always pre-write my blog post so I just had to click 'post' while I was away! It's super easy for first time travellers or seasoned visitors to get around Bangkok city cheaply and easily! It's a bustling city for those who love food, shopping, friendly people and a huge array of old school markets and upscale modern hotspots!

This post is of our first evening there and the next day's first morning in Bangkok. I will be breaking up my holiday in posts by days and then separate posts for the haul of snacks, beauty and then skincare shopping! Hope everyone enjoys the photos!
