Rave Review: Urban Decay Smoked Eyeshadow Palette! (Swatches and looks)

Smoked eyes with Urban Decay! This post has been LONG awaiting since last year Christmas! My boyfriend handed this beauty over to me new years as a Christmas gift since he didn't get to give it to me in December and I was soooo pleasantly surprised that he got me this instead of the Soap & Glory skin care set I was going on and on about!

He told me that he knew I'd been wanting this and that I can always get the skin care by myself and thought that since I told him I was trying not to buy make up, he'd get this instead! (And it did cost like $30 more than the skincare set! I was sooo excited and have been loving everything about it!

Continue below for the review and looks!

Packaging & Product!

Having lusted after this sexy, beautiful palette for so long I think I'm way too biased to think of anything bad! If you are like me and love shimmery colors and a palette that isn't too large and with repeated shades everything about this is love!

I'm a huge fan of the satin finish case, it's super sturdy and the zip that closes it is so unique as I haven't seen any other palette like this before. There's a full sized mirror as well as a full sized eyeliner space for the one that comes with the palette or you could put your own inside! There's nothing negative about the packaging for me although I guess the material could get stained easily although it is black and it won't be obvious!

Right to the point, it's love all round! I'm so freaking in love with the formula of these shadows, all are so pigmented, buttery soft and blend so well together and by themselves. Both matte and shimmery finishes are just as amazing and the range of neutral shades and cool toned colorful shades just won me over!

I immediately saw a bunch of colored smokey looks and am still enjoying pulling this out every single time. You can do a super simple neutral eye, a smokey or complex neutral, a neutral with a pop of color or a super colorful cool toned eye look too! There are so many endless combinations and if you like color and you still need neutrals to 'ground' your look, this is perfect!

I wear these shadows with a cream shadow base or with the eye primer provided, they last the entire day, no creasing and these colors stay vibrant and flawless without any issues!

Kinky, Freestyle, Mushroom, Backdoor, Blackout!
Kinky: A matte cream shade! Perfect for the under brow highlight!

Free style: A matte peachy nude! Great for a 'nude' lid or blending out in the crease!

Mushroom: A shimmery taupe, the perfect grayish brown cool toned taupe in my eyes!

Backdoor: A matte dark brown, it's super dark and cool toned, great for darkening the outer V!

Blackout: A matte black, it's not showing up properly here as it's an incredibly solid dark black!

Barlust, Rockstar, Evidence, Loaded, Asphalt!
Barlust: A shimmery rusty chocolate brown, such a great alternative than the usual bronze!

Rockstar: A shimmery eggplant purple that will be amazing with browns!

Evidence: A shimmery electric blue that's such a pretty cobalt shade! My favorite shade!

Loaded: A shimmery deep earthy green that has a charcoal tone to it!

Asphalt: A shimmery gunmetal, it's a beautiful gray and I can't wait to use this for a gray/black look!

Paid: This was a gift from my boyfriend! (retails for $80SGD at sephora here or about $64 USD)

Recommend: YES! If you like some deeper cool tone colors, neutrals, medium sized palettes and super smooth, buttery, pigmented shimmery shadows...this palette is soo for you!

Repurchase: No, I don't see how I'll finish this anytime soon but if this disappeared...YES! This would also be an amazing gift too!

Bottom line: Beautiful shades and such a great range, this palette is seriously amazing for smokey eye looks, natural or dramatic, colorful or neutral with a pop of color. I'm in love with the colors and the quality...so easy to work with and so wearable!

  5. Love the looks you created with this! I've been coveting this palette for awhile now, no idea if I'm going to get it or not but I kinda have been distracted by the amount of palettes there is on the market!
