Review: ZA True White Liquid Foundation in shade OC00!

True White Liquid Foundation! I'm not sure about where you ladies are in the world but here in Singapore and other south east asian countries like Malaysia, Philipines, Indonesia and Thailand there's a regional brand owned by Shiseido called 'ZA'. They've got a large range of bases and have a decent range of eyeshadows, lipsticks and blushes that cater more to asian taste of light-medium pigment/moist lip finishes!

I personally have been using their Perfect Fit Two Way pressed powder for now 5 years and it's a holy grail (See my review) I also love their Perfect Fit liquid concealer (See my review) which I've been using for years too! I'm using the same shade of foundation as I am in their powder line OC00!

Packaging & Product!

This foundation comes in a lovely glass bottle with a white pump hidden under the cap! It reminds me a lot of maybelline's mineral liquid foundation sold in Asia and also Rimmel's foundations! The feel of the bottle is super sturdy and because it is thick all over I'm not concerned about this being fragile. The text on the bottle is simple and looks very clean and effortless yet not too plain. The pump is super easy to use and dispenses with easy and the cap stays on well!

Having loved both the foundation powder and the liquid concealer from ZA I was happy with the swatches I did in store so I really hoped the foundation would be if not as good but maybe better than what I've tried! Having used this for some week now I can say it's a good foundation. Best for those with normal/dry skin, if you've got slightly more oilier skin you'd need a setting powder to make this last nicely.

This foundation has a lovely light creamy texture, it's quite a lot like Bourjois Healthy mix but slightly thinner in consistency. It blends out super easily and feels very lightweight. This formulation is very brightening on the skin without being ashy or too pale and suprisingly has a good solid medium coverage.

On first swatch in the store I felt that the coverage would be light be am surprised that this layers up very easily to be a solid medium coverage if needed. It covers up all my light pigmentation and my darker under eye area but for those with very dark discoloration or red blemishes you'd need to use a concealer. I personally always set my foundations unless they truly feel matte and this foundation has a dewy super fresh finish. It's very pretty but will not last 30 minutes out in Singapore's hot and humid climate. I set this foundation with ZA's foundation powder of the same color!

Below here is a side by side swatch comparison of three ZA base products! This liquid foundation, the liquid concealer and their foundation powder! At my current skintone the powder is the perfect shade for me, the concealer blends and adjust perfectly although a touch yellow although it's not noticeable and the foundation looks natural but definitely makes my complexion more bright and a tad lighter.

Before and after wearing ZA True White Liquid Foundation in shade OC00! Gives me a natural brightened complexion that has a good medium coverage when layered.
My bare face! My complexion has gotten very the fair the last year! This is my original color! I'm around an NC 20 now I believe!
One layer of ZA True White Liquid Foundation in shade OC00! A dewy brightening finish, it covers up light pigmentation and under eye darkness very well!
Finally for a typical hot, humid and sweat filled day I set my foundation with my favorite and holy grail powder also from ZA! In the same shade which is a touch more yellow toned! Now my face will last easily at least 10 hours!
Foundation comparison: Bourjois Healthy Mix shade 52, ZA True White liquid foundation shade OC00, L'oreal Lucent Magique foundation shade N2, L'oreal le teint True Match shade R2!
The ZA liquid foundation is the lightest of the four I'm comparing, it's yellow toned like the Bourjois and L'oreal Lucent but is a tad milkier in complexion. Out of the four foundations the Bourjois matches me the best. In terms of long wearing quality the L'oreal True Match is the best although I set all of them with powder.

I personally reach for the Bourjois and ZA for casual days out and both the L'oreal foundations for days I'm going to get hot and sweaty or being running around or simply out for hours and hours! They wear the best over a long period of time in Singapore's weather! For those with oilier skin totally stay with L'oreal, Bourjois's Healthy Mix and this from ZA have a dewy finish and need a good powder to last!

Paid: $24 SGD or $18 USD (purchased at our local drugstore Watsons)

Recommend: Yes, this is a super brightening and dewy finish foundation that looks gorgeous by itself. If you've got oilier skin you need a good pressed powder on top! Otherwise this would make an awesome base for those with drier skin and for cooler climates!

Repurchase: No, I do like this but I will be trying their other bases!

Bottom line: A great option for those who need something lightweight, brightening and hydrating! This foundation is a good everyday natural looking foundation, I can't wait to buy another base product from ZA to try!

Do you own/know any ZA products?
Do you like brightening bases?
Let me know!

I still can remember times when ZA used to be very hype on the 90's, it is for me a very nostalgic brand xD
