Review: Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation in "Cheers to Me" Champagne!

HELLO Flawless! Those of us who wear foundation regular know how important it is to have different types of foundations. Maybe we have one that we'd reach for everyday, one for special occasions and lots in between that we are trying out and hoping will have a loving spot in our collection! I've always been curious about trying either the liquid or powder foundations from Benefit but as it's a bit marked up here I've held off purchasing either.

This gorgeous mini sized Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation from Benefit was gifted to me in a swap from the loveliest Pam from Jade in the Palace blog! I was sooo excited to not only try it but thought it was sooo adorable that they managed to make this sample the same packaging as the full sized product!

Packaging!

I'm pretty much in love with the packaging, if you quickly google up this foundation, this tiny mini size is in the same packaging as the full size! From the outer box to the actual bottle it's about 90% the same and it's soooo adorable! It's unlikely to find mini sized products that are packaged the same as regular sized products so I really appreciate Benefit doing this for this mini!

The packaging colors and design is very clean and simple looking. I would have never thought I'd find such skinny letter attractive but in the way it's down it really makes me think that the packaging is a bit clinic like Clinique's packaging and I like being able to see the product in the tube. It's a mini pump bottle with the mechanism of Bourjois Healthy Mix's older packaging with the piece in the bottom pushing up as you use it.

 Product!

I was soooo eager to get this in a swap I did with Pam more than a year ago now! She had got me this mini size in the 3rd shade which in the bottle looked like it would be a good match but on first pump and swatch I was a bit taken aback by how orangey the undertone looked! Once blended and worked into the skin it turns more yellow than orange which is the good thing, however after having this for a while I would totally need a shade lighter if I ever get this in full size!

This foundation has a lovely liquidy texture, it exact in the texture to L'oreals Lucent Magique foundation. It has a coverage that can be work from light to medium and this totally feels lightweight on the face. I wore two layers of this everytime I used it, two thin layers which then I add my regular powder on top which adjusts the color and sets it.

I found that this foundation plus my regular holy grail ZA two way powder lasts average. I'm not sure if it's the oily tendency of my skin but this foundation didn't last very well on my skin during the months I wore it. Overall I think this foundation is best for those with warm/golden undertones as most of the shades seem to lean very yellow and this would be best for those who don't want too much coverage or who don't need a HD finish.

Comparison of foundations: Bourjois Healthy Mix shade 52, Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in Champagne, L'oreal Lucent Magique in N2, Lioele Triple the Solution BB cream!

As seen above, the other three shades match me much better than the Benefit. Although it does blend out to become a more yellow shade it's still too orange by itself on my face. It has the same texture as the L'oreal, not as creamy as the Lioele and Bourjois.

In terms of finish and long lasting qualities its finish is also like the glowy quality of the L'oreal but it doesn't last as well. Out of these four, the lioele last the longest and most flawlessly.

Paid: Gifted to me in a swap! (Regular 30ml bottle is $36 USD at Sephora in the US)

Recommend: Yes, if you can find a good shade match this would make a great lightweight everyday foundation. If you've got slightly oilier skin like myself it may oxidize slightly but otherwise it has a good natural light-medium coverage and feels good all day.

Repurchase: No, for now. I've got so many foundation to use and go through! Maybe in the future I would try their powder foundation (even if I do finish it in 2 months!)

Bottom line: A lovely light weight textured formula that has a good light-medium coverage. Do check the shades out in store as they lean very golden and slightly orange even with this 3rd shade in the line!  Best for normal-slightly oilier skin, a powder to set would help to prolong the wear of this!

Have you tried any of Benefit's face product?
Would you try this foundation?

Thank you!

  1. I've seen this in Sephora all the time, but I've been too hesitant to take the plunge...Too bad it wasn't your shade! It might have been really awesome. I think for me, I always prefer medium to high coverage! Haha

  2. I have to agree with you that this foundation doesn't have good oil control. I didn't buy the full size but I got like 6 deluxe samples of it from my friend who works for Benefit lol xD..
The mini packaging is cute, isn't it?
I find this foundation doesn't apply well with brushes , so I only apply it with beauty blender.

  3. This foundation sounds good but it's bad that it's not your shade. It's so frustrating when we get a different shade foundation.. Nice review honey! Wish you a happy new year. Kisses <3

  4. The mini size is too cute, Sharlynn! I'm just as surprised when I first look at the colour of the foundation; don't think it suits your skin tone honestly. Wonderful review as always, dear.

  5. I love that mini size, I'm always looking for small cosmetics for traveling, and it is too bad that it doesn't fit your shade, sigh, good foundations are hard to find!

  6. Aww, I really wanted to see a picture of you wearing this! Its so hard to judge just from a swatch alone :( It does look really odd in the swatch though being that orangey... I never tried any benefit products as I find them overpriced but the packaging for sure is super adorable!
Hope you had a good start into the new week! :)

  8. Heh, everytime I see "WOW", I think of the doge meme, and then I start laughing. Anyways, 5ml??? I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW TINY AND CUTE THE BOTTLE IS. I got a sample of this a while back because the Sephora foundation IQ thing said it was a match for me, but I really didn't care for it because it was really really yellow (or orangey?) on me.

  9. Omg dying to try this, I didn't know they have a sample size! The bottom looks so cute compare to your other foundations ~ thanks for the lovely review hun, it's really helpful, It def helps me decide if I wanna spend all that $$ on it... I'm afraid it may not work as well on me cause I have oily skin.

  10. oh bummer the shade is way too yellow for you. I usually would mix it with another shade to create matching color for my skin so that I don't waste it. It's a little inconvenient but it's better than no doing anything with it.

  11. I reviewed this foundation when it first came out in Canada and really liked it at the time. It didn't have SPF in it though which is too bad. I am also sad that it wasn't quite the right colour for you!
