Rave review: Shiseido Ibuki Purifying Cleanser!

Ibuki Purifying Cleanser! For those who aren't aware many asian skincare lines have several types of cleansers...usually there's a 'gentle' one and a 'purifying' one. I have used up two types of cleanser from Shiseido's more affordable line Aqua label and they were damn amazing. I decided it was about time to buy one from Shiseido!

I've been eyeing products from the Ibuki range which is targeted for youth and ladies in their 20s. I knew I wanted something that could take off make up besides being a face wash so I knew I had to get the purifying cleanser!

I'm a big fan of the simple, sleek and elegant box packaging. The delicate text and motif are lovely!

Much like most of the cleansers from Shiseido or shiseido brands their cleansers have 'micro granules' which are little bits of scrub that aren't really rock solid but are rough enough to give the skin is good exfoliating for a short while before they dissolve. They also all foam up and lather up beautifully and don't feel like a soapy slick mess like some other washes.

Packaging & Product!

I'm a fan of how Shiseido packages their products. Each line has a specific color scheme and the Ibuki line is a cream color and is very simple and plain like the Pureness line. The box is so elegant and I love the sheen and details to it. The plastic tube is a soft but thick material and the tube allows for easy dispensing of the cleanser. You get a large 125g of product which for me is a lot. I personally avoid buying face washes that are over 100g unless I know they are good or already know that I love the product. There's really no downside to the packaging of this product, it's nothing special but totally practical.

Let's jump into, the wash is pretty much perfection. It's a thick shiney cream and it lathers up into the most beautiful foam. You need a pea sized amount for your entire face and down your neck. There's a beautiful mildy rough granule that runs through the cleanser that you can scrub really hard with and get a wonderful scrub without hurting the skin. The scent of this wash is pretty damn nice too, it's like a sweet creamy scent. Once you wash this off your skin, it's soft, all traces of make up is gone and the skin feels slightly tight and so clean.

To be honest, this product works exactly like it's cheaper version by Shiseido's Aqua Label range, which is available here in Watsons pharmacies. I've tried both the dark blue and yellow version of cleanser and they feel and perform exactly the same. Although you get slightly less product, the price is half of any of Shiseido's cleansers. An important thing to note is that these cleansers work best for normal to oilier skin!

Paid: $35 SGD at Duty Free Changi Airport (regular price about $43 SGD)

Recommend: Yes, if you're keen on trying a purifying cleanser from Shiseido this is the second most affordable one from their skincare lines and I'm sure the others do the same!

Repurchase: Yes, but not this exact one! I'm trying the one from the White Lucent range next!

Bottom line: Another really amazing product from Shiseido, it's really the bomb of cleansers. It feels great, smells great, performs great and seems to work for my skin both when my skin's oily or a bit dry. I would totally be happy to buy another cleanser from them!

Do you have a holy grail cleanser that you repeated buy?
Tried any of shiseido's cleansers before?
Let me know!

Thank you!

  3. You don't happen to know the ph-level of this cleanser, do you...? (Or have ph testing strips lying around? No? ) I am a little bit crazy over ph-levels since I learned how big their influence is and everytime I see a nice cleanser review I wish I knew the ph level ;__; A lot of cleanser say they are ph-friendly when in fact they're not which is a really mean thing to do. Anyway! This sounds really promising, I personally love Shiseido too :) I won't buy before I don't find out the ph of this but I'm glad you found something that works so well for you! My skin is a mess, as you know, so new products tend to be hit or miss with me :/ Thanks for the nice review girl! :)

  4. I haven't tried this, but I have tried the Shiseido Benefiance cleanser that I imagine is somewhat similar. I found it got my face really clean, but it was kind of drying which I didn't like. Glad to hear this one works for you though!
