Home made: Brown Sugar Cinnamon rolls and Apple Sauce!

Want some BUNS HUN? Hahaha...yeah...I can't help but to hear some of Nicki Minaj's song in my head every time I heard the word 'buns' now! I'm no fan of hers but she is legitimately talented. Something which is plenty popular this time of year are home made rolls/buns! I've seen sooo many bloggers show their beautifully made cinnamon, apple butter, peanut butter, chocolate and cream rolls and now it's my turn!

This recipe is from the famous Alton Brown which my boyfriend pulled for us to use! The recipe is a simple cinnamon sugar, so I made my own homemade apple sauce to be served on the side!

Continue below for my yummy rolls and sauce!
Brown sugar cinnamon rolls and apple sauce!

Brown sugar cinnamon rolls and apple sauce! Freshly rolled and cut, place into a buttered glass tray! To find the recipe for the rolls see here!
Close up of the rolls freshly rolled and cut, use a serrated bread knife for the cutting!
Here is one tray with the odd sized pieces! The ends of the long roll tends to be smaller! It's important to roll the entire roll tightly, slowly and as evenly as possible! I'm so happy to have so many rings!
The cinnamon rolls after being proofed! This process is placing the tray into the oven with a container of boiled water. The steam causes the rolls to grow in size due to the yeast!
Just proofed! Basically being lightly steamed! It's only the steam that causes this, leave the oven off, just use it to contain the steam for the rolls to rise!
All the ingredients that go into my home made apple sauce! You need to adjust the amount of butter/time of reducing the sauce in order to make it thicker or to keep it more liquidy. I honestly have no recipe. I've made this so many times I just know how to make it. I always use a mix of granny smith and fuji apples!
Cook one half of the apples with butter and a touch of oil.  Cook them until soft and you're able to squish them with a wooden spoon/fork!
Once the first half of apples are softened and browned, I add the cinnamon powder, brown sugar, all spice and nutmeg...then add in the other half of the cubed apples. This ensures you have some apple chunks!
Continue cooking the sauce until the liquid from the apples has reduced. You may reduce for longer for a thicker sauce. Add sugar bit by bit and always make sure to stir every 5 minutes to prevent any burning. I have the heat on low-medium for the later half of the cooking process!
The brown sugar cinnamon rolls baking!!!
The finished buns! A rich golden brown! For the batch I made after this, I put a lot of brown sugar on top of the rolls before baking for more of a sugary crust as some of the filling melts during proofing!
You can serve both the roll and sauce cold but they are nicest when warm. Serve the roll with a large dusting of icing sugar and apple sauce on the side! If you've got whipped cream it'd be perfect on the side too!

Warm, sweet, buttery, cinnamony, flaky and so wholesome! Home made brown sugar cinnamon rolls and apple sauce!

For those of you who are keen on knowing the recipe for the rolls, it's from Alton Brown and it's on the foodnetwork's website! The apple sauce unfortunately is purely from my experience and I always adjust it to what I'm making! I hope if you don't have the chance to make your own goodies that you'll at least eat your share of goodies!

  5. Looks delish, I tried making cinnamon buns once but they turned out a bit stiff, not soft and fluffy like I prefer

  6. Word, that looks amazing *-*
I haven't has a cinnamon roll in years, because they're so expensive at the mall. But I am a big fan of applesauce, and have been wanting to make it at home for years!

Also, YASSS AT THE ANACONDA REFERENCE. While I might not like her, that song is catchy as fudge ._.
