Rave review: L'oreal Le Teint True Match in shade R2 Apricot Ivory!

Le Teint True Match! For many many women for many years L'oreal True Match has been a famous drugstore product and a staple for women around the world! Having a huge range of shades (in major parts of the world), suitable for most skin types and with great coverage that leaves the skin looking real and yet flawless I'm won't be surprised if this product forever has a section in store!

Years ago I had helped my mother pick out her shade of L'oreal True Match and on hindsight we some how got her the wrong shade...TWICE. I then purchased one for myself 4 years ago and it was one of my first foundations. In the end although it wasn't the right match at the time it was amazing and I can never forget or speak less about this product!

Packaging & Product!

For as long as I've seen this product sold in Singapore since I helped my mother buy two bottles back in the early 2000s, this product has always been sold with a pump in Asia. We have never had the same type with a cap like in the US. We've always had a tiny range of shades and always have the packaging with a pump.

In the newest packaging, the front of the foundation bottle has very sleek and more 'pretty' looking text. I really like the small snippets of information on the back and the labeling of the shade name too. The glass bottle really isn't too special but I really do like the shorter fat size of the bottle as it makes it compact. The glass is also really thick and I've had it drop several times and nothing happened to the bottle! The cap also is super sturdy and I've never had it crack or become loose!

The foundation! Let's jump into the product! If there was a foundation perfect for any occasion, from everyday to lazy day, special occasion, cool weather, humid weather...this foundation probably would fit almost any need! The formulation of True Match is that it's a liquidy consistency that's like an emulsion (the older formulation was thicker, heavier and creamier).

I love that this foundation has amazing coverage, it is medium coverage at least and builds up easily to a flawless super natural full coverage foundation! You can definitely wear this sheer by using very little and a brush or by mixing some moisturizer into it. The color match (no pun intended) is also amazing. There's something about the shades from this line that make them so complex in an amazing way so that the product looks so much like skin on the face.

My bare face close up!
This feels so lightweight on the skin, even with more than one layer. There's a very light pleasant powdery scent and the fact that there's a small amount of SPF is better than nothing! If you've got normal-dry skin you can go without any setting powder as this product dries to a semi-matte finish. Otherwise I set this with a light powder and it can last throughout the day with minimal touch up.

Something interesting to note. I've owned all three undertones from L'oreals foundations. I own this in a cool tone which matches me very well, I also own the Lucent Magique in the neutral which is slightly brightening but is currently a great match and I've used up an entire face powder in the warm undertone which was perfect for me!

Honestly I am most comfortable with warm/yellow undertones when it come to foundations. I am lucky enough to have a complexion that is neutral enough that I can get away with bases that have more beige tones than yellow ones. However I am super keen on getting a warm undertone liquid foundation from them in the future!

Wearing L'oreal Le Teint True Match in shade R2 Apricot Ivory, can you see how well it blends into my neck which is more beige/tan than my face?
Foundation comparison: L'oreal Lucent Magique in N2, L'oreal Le Teint True Match in R2, Bourjois Healthy Mix in 52 and Rimmel Stay Matte Mousse in 103
Out of all these four the most heavy coverage is the Rimmel and L'oreal True Match. Rimmel is much creamier and thicker but after being blended in and out it feels just like as light as a liquid. In terms of color the Rimmel and the Bourjois are the best matches for me.

Don't get me wrong, this foundation is an amazing match for me. It goes so well with all my limbs and isn't actually much darker than my face but more beige/tan which looks very natural on me. If you're some one with a more yellow tone definitely go for the W(arm) or G(olden) shades from L'oreal.

According to L'oreals website they have a listed 29 SHADES of L'oreal True Match...here is a seller on Amazon with the shades they are selling. Please, can some one tell me how I could bring at least half of these shades to Asia!
In Singapore we have SIX SHADES. They retail for $30.90 SGD ($23.50 USD) so we can't just buy TWO TO MIX like some of you ladies in the USA!!!
We also have a version of True Match in a powder foundation form in a rectangular compact! I would totally buy this if there were refills but it's too pricey for me for daily use!

Paid: Usual Price $30.90 SGD or about $23.50 USD    (I grabbed this when there was a 20% off)

Recommend: YES. For those who have never owned True Match before, this is a winner in the drugstore foundation category. It's a great light feeling, medium-full coverage foundation with a nice semi-matte finish that last all day and night when set with a powder! Plenty of colors (depending on where you are) to suite everyone!

Repurchase: Yes. When I do finish this I definitely will be picking another up, however in the meanwhile I am totally planning to buy this again but in the warm undertone!

Bottom line: An overall super foundation that everyone can easily find a match! This is a definitely must try product that's affordable and great to to use!

Do you use and love True Match like me?
Tried any other L'oreal foundation?
Let me know!

Feel free to comment!
Thank you!

  1. I recently got my hands on this foundation too! I am really quite enjoying it, and it's so far living up to all of the hype! That's such a shame that you guys only get 12 shades, I think we get about 12? It's just as expensive here though, around $30!

  2. I'Ve heard a lot of positive reviews about this foundation. A lot of people even claim it to be a dupe for the GA Luminous Silk foundation. I have the Luminous silk and it is the longest wearing foundation I have. The finish could be cakey sometimes when it is not applied correctly, that's why I don't usually reach for it when I don't have enough time to blend blend blend :p
This foundation looks flawless on you! but the price is just ridiculous, 30SGD !! you can get MAC foundation here with that amount of money..

  3. Your skin looks super glowy! My friend raves about this foundation too, I've been wanting to try it sometime now. Though I don't think we have the pump bottle here in canada, the one we have here is same as the one you showed on Amazon; so it's a tad bit inconvenient without the pump!

  4. I've heard great things about this one! There are never testers though, so I never know what shade to get.

  5. This looks so beautiful on you! And your skin is perfect anyway- I bet you can get away without wearing any base products!
I have this and it matches my Winter skin tone, but it showed up my dry flakes pretty badly. I think it's more of a match for oily skin as it tends to set to a matte. Doesn't it suck that make up is so expensive in Singapore and Australia!
