Advanced Film Mascara! For those who may not know my holy grail mascara that I have repurchased at least 1-2 times a year for about 4-5 years now has been from Kiss Me Heroine. I've loved both their Long & Curl and Volume & Curl formulas, both which are super black, super waterproof and both add lots of volume and length! I repurchase both types and in the last year I've tried 3 other versions from them, the Impact Frame and Curl, Long & Curl Super Film and now this Advanced Film version.
I'll be honest, the first two the Impact Frame and Super Film versions were utterly mediocre. The Impact Frame had a wand that clumped on far too much mascara and at best gave too natural looking lashes as the formula would not build. The Advanced Film had a brush that held too much product and the formula also didn't layer the lashes properly which meant more time applying for very very 'meh' results. Hence I was quite on the fence about purchasing this new version but then again, they product my holy grail mascara so I just HAD to try it!

Packaging & Product!
This version's tube and wand is exactly the same as my holy grail version from them. In a slim black tube, shiney text and a slightly curved wand which makes great for application. The one thing which is different is the exterior plastic packaging. Bulky, pink and eye catching I definitely was drawn to it by that first before inspecting to see what was special about this mascara!
Right to the formula, just like ALL the other versions from Kiss Me Heroine this is very wet new...and trust me, I've tried them ALL...although I don't have reviews of all of the different versions up on my blog. A wetter formula isn't such a biggie though as I can scrap the excess product onto the inner lip of the tube and it goes right back in later. The thing about this formula is that I found it to build up more slowly on the lashes than my favorite version from them.
In other words it takes more time to get the effect I want versus my holy grail versions from them. This version is meant to be removed easier due to it's 'advanced film' formula and I do think it is the case as I have been using the same remover and this one really does ease off easier than the regular version which I love.

My bare lashes! |
I find that although it takes a big longer to achieve the effect I want, this mascara is more defining than the regular Long and Curl formula but it doesn't give me as much crazy volume which I do like too. It's a good one though as it does give lots of length and that's really important as my lashes are invisible and short without mascara.

Paid: $21.90 SGD or about $15.50 USD
(This is just around the price of all our drugstore mascaras in Singapore! Including Maybelline, L'oreal...etc hence I much rather go with my Japanese options!)
Recommend: Yes. If you don't mind working to remove excess product for a few weeks this mascara will be a perfect everyday mascara that's as black and as waterproof as all the rest of the versions from KMH. Just take note that it's more on giving length and definition and not as much volume as the original versions.
Repurchase: No, I'm just very satisfied with buying the original Long & Curl and Volume & Curl versions for the sake of them both being able to amp it up in all the departments from length, curl and volume while being black and waterproof as hell!
Bottom line: A quality mascara, this would be best for those who already have some decent lashes that aren't so short or thin like mine are. Also if you want something for daily use this would be a fantastic option if you want a super waterproof formula like myself and don't mind having to use an oil based remover.
Have you tried any Japanese film mascaras?
Do you prefer length or volume?
Let me know!
Feel free to comment!
Thank you!
I think I've tried the Long & Curl one - loved the results but it was too darn to remove. It seems that this one is a bit easier to remove, though. I'm currently using Etude House Curl Fix which is really really budge-proof yet super difficult to remove. I'm going back to my trustee L'Oreal Voluminous WP after this. ;p
ReplyDeleteI also like the other mascara that you like but I think I'd still give this one a try. :D
ReplyDeleteI love Heroine Make's mascaras! Usually I use the Super waterproof version and their eye makeup remover does the trick in removing it all. Gonna give this version a try! :)
