Review: Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige!

Five Oil BB Cream! Today here I have a BB cream from the Japanese brand Brigitte! The distribution company for Brigitte products in Singapore was so kind to send me this product to try! I've already tried  several products from Brigitte last year so I was keen to receive this! (See my review here) It's a brand that although has a french name is from Japan and promotes 'kawaii' culture! Similar to brands like Majolica Majorca and Kanebo Lavshuca this line is full of beautifully designed products that remind me of royalty, princesses and yet a sense of refined femininity!

As someone with combination skin I tend to steer clear of products that have oils or are made with extra oils however although this BB cream is formulated with 5 different oils it has exceeded my expectations and has performed amazingly on me!

Continue below for my full review!

This BB cream contains 5 plant oils! (Eucalyptus oil, Avocado oil, Argan oil, Jojoba oil, lavender oil)
Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige! The tube is a standard 30ml and also has UV protection also it's not specified how much protection.
Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige! Love the pink color and simple, pretty design of the print on the tube!
Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige! All the text on the back of the tube is in Japanese!
Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige! I'm a big fan of bases in simple tubes like this, it's so lightweight and easy to travel with!
Packaging & Product!

Straight away from the exterior packaging I definitely think of kawaii Japanese style and princesses. It's very typical of Asian packaging but I do appreciate the information in english on the back. This BB cream like many comes very simply in a firm plastic tube that holds a standard 30ml of product. I really like the coral pink color the tube is and the nozzle is tapered and is great for dispensing product hygienically and precisely. I also do appreciate the print on the tube being simple but pretty with the rose motifs. I have no complaints about the packaging of this product.

In terms of the product itself at first I was a bit hesitant. On one hand I love BB creams but always gravitate towards those with higher coverage and are meant for oilier skin. This BB cream contains 5 plant oils and isn't specified for any particular skin type. However I went ahead and have used for different occasions and it's been great.

I have the shade #02 Natural Beige which is the perfect yellow toned beige that's a perfect match for my NC20ish skintone right now.  The texture and thickness of this BB cream is super silky and it's a medium thickness that blends out so easily. This feels a lot like Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation. There's a slight herbal plant smell when you apply this but once it's applied and left to dry or set with a powder there's not a trace of any smell at all.

Swatches of Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige!

This product is meant to have high coverage and is good for concealing which is completely true. I pretty much never use concealer anyway and just usually use a bit more foundation but this BB cream has an amazing medium-high coverage and I didn't have to layer it. I just dabbed a bit more just for under the eyes and around the mouth and it looks so natural although flawless!

This BB cream has a great natural semi-matte finish and much like every base I wear I set this before wearing it out. I've worn this set with my regular ZA powder and also with Brigitte's BB powder which is a loose finely milled powder. Set with either powder this BB cream lasts all day long and still looks a feel great. I think this would be great for both slightly oilier skin, normal and dry skin!
Before and after wearing Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige!
My bare face! As you can see my skin is free from blemishes and my pores are quite small. My issue is darkness under my eyes and lots of light pigmentation!
My face after wearing Brigitte Five Oil BB Cream in shade #02 Natural Beige! See how even the tone is and how it's naturally bright but not too light? The finish also is semi-matte and isn't wet!

Comparison to other foundations/ BB creams!

Bourjois Healthy Mix shade 52, Brigitte Five Oil BB cream shade 02, The Face Shop Power Perfection BB cream shade 2, Lioele Triple the Solution BB cream!
Bourjois Healthy Mix shade 52, Brigitte Five Oil BB cream shade 02, The Face Shop Power Perfection BB cream shade 2, Lioele Triple the Solution BB cream!
As seen above in terms of color, Brigitte's BB cream is a perfect mix of beige and yellow. Not as purely yellow as Bourjois but not as beige and flesh tone as Lioele or as pink/ashy as The Face Shop.

Brigitte's BB cream and BB powder! They work great together and with other products! Will be reviewing the powder in the future!
Paid: This was sent to me to try! (Retails for $28.90 SGD or $21.30 US)

Recommend: YES! This BB cream is phenomenal! I have plenty of BB creams but this one really is so impressive. Not to mention there are 3 shades so if you are a bit tanner, maybe up to NC 30 you'll be able to get a match. If you're in need of a light weight, high coverage, long lasting, natural looking BB cream this is the one you need to try!

Repurchase: No, but only because I have a lot of bases to work through right now! I would totally get this for a friend though!

Bottom line: A seriously wonderful BB cream that meets and exceeds my expectations. It's not simply a kawaii product but it performs super. It's everything I want and need in a BB cream except for being completely matte. Most BB creams are dewy in finish so with a setting powder I'm totally ready to wear this anywhere for whatever amount of time!

Have you tried any Brigitte products before?
Would you like to try this?

  1. I am actually no longer adventurous with BB Creams, but this one sounds very promising! I recently watched a video from Wayne Goss at youtube about foundation mixed with oil is good for oily skin! So it makes sense if this BB Cream wich contains 5 plant oils should be good for all skin types including oily skin :) I directly checked eBay to get this BB Cream but can't find any seller :/ maybe I'll be able to buy it in Indo though.

Speaking of oils I have only been cleansing and moisturising with organic coconut oil fro the past 5 days and it has been amazing for my skin! I'm such a fan of oils :). Will keep this in mind for my japan trip xx
