Holiday Special: Day 4 in Bangkok, Visiting Chatucak Weekend Market! (March 2016)

Chatucak Weekend Market! No visit to Bangkok is complete without a visit to one of their large markets, the most famous being the Chatuchak Weekend Market! Located a walking distance from Mo Chit BTS, it houses more than 8,000 stalls and sees 200,000 visitors over the weekend which is when the market is fully open. It is open from 9am-5pm on the weekends and limited hours of 6pm-12am on weekdays.

It's not recommended to go during the weekdays as only a tiny fraction of the stalls are open. The market is HUGE and you must get your hands on a map which is available at the police station on the way to the entrances from the train station or at the various entrances to the market.

Continue below for the visit to the market!

Day 4 in Bangkok, Visiting Chatucak Weekend Market!
The very simple, homely menu at Inter Cafe in Siam square! Lots of local favorites and basic dishes! All at super affordable prices!
Super simple interior, it's basic but it's lovely being able to see into the long kitchen. The food being so freshly prepared! They also have an upstairs.
Kai lan with salted crispy pork!
Fried kway teow noodle! So tasty with dark sauce.
The best deep fried crispy flaky cat fish salad with a side of papaya salad!
Spring rolls! When in thailand eat spring rolls everyday! They are made with different fillings and are usually home made and delicious!
Visiting the famous Chatucak Weekend Market! Ice cream, drinks, snacks and cut fruit stalls everywhere near all the entrances!
The place is HUGE and you won't be able to cover it all, just visit the relevant areas to what you are looking for and make sure to get a map before heading in! Lots of clothes, fashionable and affordable!
Coconut ice cream! A must eat when in thailand! Tasty, rice and deliciously cooling on a hot day!
All the stalls selling snacks! Squid eggs and fried quail eggs and western style sticks of BBQ meat!
Boxes of fried squid and quail eggs!
Sticks of BBQ meat, beef, chicken and pork!

This AWESOME shop selling quality tote bags and accessory bags with the coolest, cutest most fun prints!
A thai milk tea stall! Get a tall, sweet, strong cup of cold drink!
A very popular cheap clothing shop next to snack shops!
Delicious toasted breads with spreads! Savory and sweet!
This 100 baht shop is worth checking out if you are petit or smaller in size as everything is mostly 'free size' but the prettier pieces aren't larger than a UK size 10 for ladies.
Fresh big strawberries with chilli salt as an optional dip!
Frozen mochi ice cream balls in lots of different flavors!
Bags of local spices and ingredients for cooking!
Fried brown rice crackers and other snacks!
A shop selling nothing by knives! From choppers, to hand help weapons to swords!
Braised pork ear and other fatty bits!
The most fatty, melt in your mouth, sweet thai BBQ pork! It's a $1 SGD a stick!
The weekend market set up outside Central World mall!
There were a lot of food stalls selling pastry, bakery and many more snacks and home made/ street food items!
Amongst all the stalls there were lots selling interesting drinks or gorgeous fresh pressed juices like this one!
The crowd is mostly locals! Locals in Bangkok are so super stylish, even teenage school kids in their uniforms have their make up game ON!
Lots of shops selling cool and fun clothes, I just couldn't get enough of the sleek, colorful, structured and yet flowy pieces asides from the t-shirts here!
The famous crazy traffic in Bangkok! If you can help it, DO NOT take a cab in the evenings to avoid the long travel time via car!
Bangkok style crepes. Thin, crispy, pick your choice of sweet, savory or a mix of both like I did! So delicious and light!
My crepe! Piping hot, crispy with sweet and spicy chilli, an egg, crabstick and mayo! So good!
One night when my mom and I took take away from a popular local restaurant! Pineapple fried rice, pad thai and prawn cakes! All washed down with a lychee beer, oh this is AMAZING TAKEAWAY!
There you go! That was our proper visit to the famous HUGE Chatucak weekend market! If you are in Bangkok over the weekend please do give it a visit. It's such a large place, you will never get to see everything so make sure to get a map at the police station outside and ask for directions on where is what! We just hit up a few areas of interest and that was good enough! My mom and I really love Bangkok and I can't wait to go back again!

Are you a lover of Bangkok like my mom and I?
Have you visited Chatuchak Market before?

I'm starting to understand why you go to Thailand so often now--I definitely didn't get to experience this years ago when I went to Bangkok, so I'll definitely need to go back someday! (But I'm sure if I go, I'll come back like, 15 lbs heavier)
