Review: Little Lady Rich Black Liquid Eyeliner in 01 Black!

Rich Black Liquid Eyeliner? Liquid eyeliner is a total staple when I do eye make up. For those who have been reading my blog for a while or those who have seen my make up looks, I almost always am sporting liquid eyeliner! I've been testing this particular one for more than three months now and unlike other new ones I've tried in the last year this one has been giving me a lot of trouble!

My favorite liquid pen eyeliner which I consistently repurchase or have a back up of is Kiss Me Heroine's Smooth Liquid Liner Eyeliner! What I look for in a liquid eyeliner is ease of use, solid black color, fast drying and a formula that will lasts through the humidity and heat!

Packaging!

For those who have purchased similar eyeliners from Japanese and Korean brands it's a completely normal sight for the exterior packaging of these slender products to be much larger, excessive and attention grabbing! This eyeliner instead of coming in a clamshell plastic or against a cardboard backing came in a book type packaging. On the inside, there's a series of instructional sketches of how to use the eyeliner and on the back is the description/ingredients in english!

Compared to other popular brands, the packaging of this eyeliner isn't as girly and colorful and cute looking but more sleek and simple. I really was quite attracted to the color and finish of the eyeliner pen and the font of the text! There really aren't any downsides to the packaging of this product unless you truly want to save the environment and not buy products with too much extra packaging.

Product!

This brush tip pen eyeliner functions pretty much exactly like all others I've tried. The product flows smoothly onto the skin from the brush tip although I find that I need to go over my line twice with this eyeliner to get a solid black color to my satisfaction. The finish of the eyeliner is a typical slightly satin finish and the drying time is average. Overall, this product applies and works like most other eyeliners I've used but it does not last as well as others.

I found that this had below average wear time before my wings started to fade while wearing the same base make up beneath as when I use other eyeliners. Also I had two incidences were this eyeliner literally just disappeared while I was sweating at work and dabbing at my forehead and surround area with a tissue.

I tried to reapply the eyeliner after realizing it was gone but on slightly damp hot skin, this eyeliner does not apply and dry like others would. It just bleeds terribly out of place and will not dry at all. In other words this eyeliner is terrible for the days when the humidity is high and isn't a good choice for those who don't bring out their make up for touch ups.

Wearing Little Lady Rich Black Liquid Eyeliner in 01 Black! The color is a really great solid black, however in person the finish is a slightly satin finish.

Despite being the same price as my holy grail eyeliner (pictured beneath), it just cannot hold up in the humidity, heat and the sweat I go through on a regular basis. It fares fine if you're indoors in air conditioning but otherwise if you will be moving around outdoors or know you may be hot and sweaty you need to skip this one completely!

Comparison of Kiss Me Heroine Smooth Liquid Eyeliner and  Little Lady Rich Black Liquid Eyeliner!

Paid: $18.90 SGD or $13.80 USD   (This is the average price for similar liquid eyeliners)

Recommend: NO. There are so many better options from K-palette, Kiss me heroine, Dolly Wink and more that are around the same price point and perform better!

Repurchase: Nope. I've tried better and will never repurchase this again.

Bottom line: This eyeliner is not worth checking out. Unless you really are such a sucker for the design of the pen and will be indoors and cool all day long. The way it wears just is such a shame since it's almost always hot and humid here in Singapore, I can't recommend it.

What was the last eyeliner you tried that didn't work out?
Have you bought from Japanese brands before?
Let me know!

Thank you!

  1. I kind of like the packaging. It has such a cute color hahaha

It's such a shame that it didn't work as well as your HG though. I've tried some Asian eyeliners and they all work the same as Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner, but that just means that they all flake a bit in my inner corner :( Maybe I'll give your HG a try since nothing is working for me right now D:

  4. Ahhh too bad this is a let down. I think longevity is one of the most important aspect of a good eyeliner, so when one failed to deliver it, then it is just not good enough. :/

  7. Brilliant eye make-up! You are just as good with shadow as you are with controlling your liner wings! Shame about the quality of the eyeliner, it definitely is a bit pricey for what it is! Thank you for the review!

  8. The only time i use liquid eyeliner is when I draw fake tattoos on myself after having used that particular tube for a few times. That's me and my liquids. I would buy them, use once for some event then the rest would be left in the MU drawer. The thing about liquid eyeliner is that no matter how waterproof they are, they would flake off very easily. And that to me, is a no no. I'm a retractable pencil/crayon person. But you, you use them so well! Nice wings!

  9. Hi Sharlynn,

Seeing your pictures especially the one showing the fine tip of this liner and also how you applied it onto your eye, I thought that this product is fantastic ... Nay! Good to know that it can't hold in hot and humid climate. Thanks heaps for your useful info!

  10. Oh I had such high hopes for this, the packaging is adorable (I am a sucker for packaging). All the Asian brand eyeliners I have tried tend not to be long lasting, I tried the Dolly Wink liner and didn't like how thinly the product applied. I just can't break away from my Stila and Kat Von D liners.

  11. Well...this is the first time I've ever seen an eyeliner claim to be moisturizing LOL. But sucks about it not working out for you! It would probably work better for me since it is a lot colder here and I stay indoors often too, but out of curiosity, do you prime your eyelids before applying liquid liner? (IDK, I've been wearing liquid liner a lot recently, but I instinctively apply eyeshadow primer even though I don't know if it makes a big difference, hah)
