Rave Review: ZA Liquid Foundation shade 21 or OC00 (water based)!

Water based, light and natural! For the longest time although I had used pan after pan of ZA's perfect fit two way foundation powder it took me several years before I tried any liquid foundations from them. After my great love after trying their True White liquid foundation (my review here) which was lovely, I decided to go ahead and give their other liquid foundation which is water based a try!

Packaging & Product!

Simple and nothing fancy, this now is the old packaging of the foundation is in a matte flesh tone bottle. The new packaging has different color and finish to the body of the bottle which is a bit shiney and reflective. I personally have no qualms with this plain packaging, its travel friendly and definitely won't shatter if dropped! The bottle is basically like a huge eye drop bottle as the foundation is of a very watery light texture and it flows out very easily. The design works for the product well and you don't need to worry about too much product spilling out.

Striaght away, the product is super lightweight, watery too. It spreads easily, blends easily and feels like nothing on the skin. There is light coverage but nothing that would be enough for discoloration or stronger redness. This formula paired with a setting of powder would be great for hotter months or for those with oilier skin that want something lighter on the skin.

I definitely find myself putting on more under the eyes and on the highs of my cheeks for more coverage but you can't build this up more than a single layer gives. This formula is hydrating and definitely brightening with a natural look. I really love the feel of this as it surprising stays put around the mouth and nose with a layer of powder without fading off like I had assumed it might due to its watery light texture.

As seen directly below, this is a good layer of the foundation on and nothing else. All moles and freckles are still very visible in person, there is light coverage and any slight normal uneven color is balanced out.

Wearing ZA Liquid Foundation shade 21 or OC00 (water based) only! A pretty natural slightly dewy finish.
Below is the foundation with a coat of ZA's perfect fit two way foundation powder! The powder added more coverage and keeps it looking fresh and lasting for longer.

Paid: $18.50 SGD or about $13.60 USD

Recommend: Yes! This surprisingly thin foundation works well for my combination skin, the only downside would be the very light coverage. It does even out the skin tone but doesn't add on much coverage.

Repurchase: No, not for now as I've got too many base products to go through. I would recommend this for those getting into bases for the first time as the super light formula is easy to work with and feels like nothing!

Bottom line: Definitely a great buy and something I believe would work well with most skin types. This is a very feel good foundation, not for special occasions but for everyday use definitely. I like how the yellow undertones in ZA's line really works well for ladies here in Singapore, although the line still could have a lot more deeper shades than just lightly tan.

Do you own any water based foundations?
Do you like watery bases?
Let me know!

Thank you!

  1. I believe I have tried this one as well , but can't really recall. LOL.
The finish looks really nice on you, very natural indeed. ZA Concealer is still one of my favourites and I have at least 3 back ups of it inside my back up drawer xD

  3. I have been saying I am wanting to try ZA makeup for so long and till now I still haven't tried a single thing! I like the look of this foundation though, the texture looks so thin, it looks like it is very breathable on the skin ♥
