I've got my Healthy balance! After having experienced so much foundation goodness from Bourjois, their Healthy Mix foundation to be precise which I've reviewed (here!) I took the chance to try their powder which felt so silk smooth when I swatched it in store.
Continue below for the review!
Compact, sturdy, well labelled and a full mirror. I am very happy that this isn't a thick or bulky product due to another compartment for a sponge or useless brush! I much rather carry my own little powder brush or sponge. I have no issues with the packaging. I sort of like the red compact, its not a very common shade.
The first thing to know about this powder is that the shade is absolutely perfect. The right light tan, beige yellow based shade, amazing for light-medium asian complexions. The coverage is light if applied with a light hand or a solid medium coverage if buffed on more heavily.
Silky, fine and super smooth are the qualities of this powder. The moment your brush touches the powder it breaks up like icing sugar! It's a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. You get a super smooth, fine power but its tendency to be messy is higher than normal.
I use this to set my regular foundation bases but not too heavily as when I sweat on my upper lip or around my forehead this powder tends to sweat off easily compared to my HG. This is a great powder to wear just over a clean face if you want an even skin tone.
Paid: $19.90 SGD ($15.60 USD)
Recommend: Yes, in terms of shade match they have a small range but they match very well to asian complexions of light to light medium. I love the smooth and flawless finish, very cakey or overdone because of the texture.
Repurchase: Yes! Although since I finish at least one full foundation powder every month I'm at the moment going through different powders. I would buy this again next time!
Bottom line: An amazing color match for my light yellow beige complexion, this powder is great for a light application or for setting foundation. It looks incredibly flawless but does not last through much sweat. Definitely worth trying if you have a match!

For such a sleek thin compact I was very happily surprised by the nice 9 grams of product! |

Comparison of Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder, ZA 2 way powder (shade 22) and Maybelline Clear Smooth powder (shade 03 natural) |
Bourjois is the most neutraland beige of the three, ZA is my HG powder which is most pigmented and long lasting. Maybelline is more pink and is a good setting powder. |

I use this powder but in #52. It's my favourite and the only powder I've tried that I've been happy enough with to want to keep using it every day :) Good to hear #53 is an excellent shade match for you!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any powders yet from Bourjois but sounds like a good setting powder especially during summer.
ReplyDeleteI bought this powder together with the foundation and i do like it a lot . It's a great setting powder for me . I do use it on it's own too . I don't wear foundation every single day , but sometimes i like to even my skin with a bit of powder and this one is perfect for it :) Great review btw :)
ReplyDeleteMy HG powder also is ZA 2way but i just hate that when it almost hits the pan the powder crumbles and it can get so dry also. I bought the Bourjouis Unifying Powder. I like it though the shade is too dark for me. Not sure if I wanna replace this as my HG powder or stick to ZA
