Review: The Face Shop Smart Peeling Honey Black Sugar Scrub!

Black sugar face scrub! How does that sound to you? Scrubbing your face with black (more like brown) sugar? Well just like salt scrubs, sugar scrubs are very popular and beneficial to exfoliating and smoothing out the texture of skin!

Having used apricot kernel scrubs for many years now I'm getting bored (although it gets the job done) andso I've sttarted to buy different types of face scrubs for variety! the Face Shop has an amazing range of cleansers and scrubs and I decided to start with a very approachable sugar one!

Continue below for the review!

The Face Shop Smart Peeling Honey Black Sugar Scrub
Straightforward this definitely warms up a bit when you rub it into your face, it does feel like it removes the dead skin layer after a long day so I agree with the info!
The Face Shop Smart Honey Honey Black Sugar Scrub
Packaging & Product!

Who doesn't need a good sweet sugary scrub for those days when you want to give your skin a smooth super soothing finish! I've used a sugar scrub before that came in a tub from Skin Food and I absolutely loved it, although it was a bit rough, dry and needed some water to melt it a bit more before using it. Here after only a short round around the shop, out of several types of scrubs they sold I decided to try The Face Shop's version!

It comes in a very clean and straightforward packaging. I like scrubs in tubes, it's easier to control, it's lightweight and hygienic to dispense. Something I really love about a lot of their facial scrubs and cleansers are that they have photos of the ingredients on the packaging, here there are cubes brown sugar cubes under water! How refreshing to have some photography like this on your packaging!

Straight to the point as seen in the photo above (product shown), this is a honey and brown sugar scrub which is of a good gel texture with a finer grained sugar scrub! It's definitely 'rough' compared to bead scrubs but its much smoother and easier to use on the face as it's like a gel once it mixes with water. I used this once or twice a week after removing all my make up.

It's so refreshing, smells so sweet and yummy and leaves your skin smooth, soft and as if there's a light oil left on the skin that has no greasy finish once your skin dries. As of this post, I've finished using this whole tube up in about two months together with my boyfriend! He really enjoyed it too!

Paid: $15 SGD or about $11.80 USD

Recommend: Yes! It's one of the finer grain sugar scrubs that's not too rough and not to slick, it leaves your face so smooth and yet not greasy after being washed off. It's a great sugar scrub to start with if you've never tried one before!

Repurchase: Yes! However I'm planning to buy a different one from them to try!

Bottom line: Super affordable for something a bit more special yet completely easy to use. I really enjoy the smooth, fine yet exfoliating ability of this product. You really feel like your skin is having its outer layer removed gently while enjoying the sweet smell and smooth, soft after touch.

Have you tried any sugar face scrubs?
Would you want to try this?
Let me know!

Feel free to comment! Thank you!

  1. I've only tried the St Ives apricot scrub (that everyone uses) but I have been ignoring it as of late. Haven't tried a sugar scrub before though, but I'd imagine it would be similar with finer granules. I have an overactive nose and I want to smell this one; honey black sugar sounds so sweet! x

  3. I am VERY interested in this. Looks like a great product. Usually I apply some brown sugar on my skin to exfoliate but it would be nice to avoid the dog licking my face.

  4. I haven't tried much scrubs because I tend to stick to the St. Ives apricot scrub - it gets the job done well. What further detours me from buying new scrubs is having a Clarisonic lol. But this one sounds great. I like how it isn't too drying and it sounds like it'll smell delicious :P
