Review: Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation in 2 shades! (OC2 & OC3)

Hi all! On a roll here! This is one of my favorite liquid foundation of all time. It's light, blendable and looks and feels like skin! They don't last very long but these two shades match me perfectly. It's just unfortunate that OC3 is the darkest shade available. Unbelievable isn't it?!

I believe this is meant to be the equivalent of their 'Dream liquid foundation'.....except in 5 very similar shades -_-

Hello Maybelline! We do have much darker skinned chinese, Indian and Malay populations in Singapore and south east asia!! Need more shades!

Continue below for the review and swatches!

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation in OC2 and OC3 in the packaging!

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation in OC2 and OC3...It's from the Maybelline's mineral line from Japan, hence the Japanese!
Definitely hydrating, breathable and good for sensitive skin!

Packaging!

I really like how sleek the glass bottle is, it doesn't take up much space and the cap on top is really good unless you loose it! There's really nothing special about the packaging and the only big downside is that none of the shades are printed onto the bottle directly! I had to write the shade number and stick them onto the bottles so I knew which was which!

Product & swatches!

I've been using this on and off, more frequently in the past and just recently on top of concealer for light coverage. The coverage these give is light to light-medium, they blend amazingly, are smooth and look like skin. Unfortunately the shades in this line are (PO1, BO1, BO2, OC2, OC3) That's all!

If you are an NC/NW 25 and below you should be able to find a match but otherwise there's nothing darker than OC3 or BO2.

In terms of wear I've got combination/sensitive skin. I've had no irritation, these are very moisturizing too which I enjoy. However they have a slight dewy finish and need to be set with a foundation powder or powder of some sort. I always set my liquid foundations.

They don't last too long throughout a typical day which is 10 hours or so for me so I wear concealer with it to cover up scars/blemishes and touch up during the day. This formula feels really good and skin breathing so thumbs up.

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation in OC2 and OC3
  • OC2 (Natural Ochre 2) is a pale yellow tone
  • (A lighter version of the maybelline gel foundation in 22 natural beige)
  • OC3 (Natural Ochre 3) is a light beigier/more neutral shade
  • (A lighter version of the gel foundation in 24 true beige)

OC2 and OC3 blended out

Both shades work flawlessly on my complexion. OC2 is enough to cancel out redness in my face however because my neck is darker than my face I mix it with OC3 or use a darker powder on top. I can use either shades alone or separately or mixed!

Paid: $19.90 SGD   ($16 USD)

Recommend: Yes! If you can find a match, have dry, normal or combination skin, definitely give this a go! Remember to powder to keep it matte if you've got oily prone skin.

Repurchase: Yes! But I've got plenty to finish!

Bottom line: For lighter skinned asian girls who want natural looking foundation, use this in combination with powder, it feels amazing and should not bother sensitive or blemished skin! It's just too bad there's such a small selection!

The mineral powders coordinating in the line are also rave worthy! They are so silky and match so well, it's just too bad the compacts break so easily!!

Do you use Maybelline foundations? Tried the mineral line yet?
Let me know!

    1. Oh darn, that's too bad! :( I guess there must be something in their formula's that don't work for you! I think gels should work best, oil free and they dry matte!

    1. Price is stated in my post. If the weather is cool and drier then maybe, otherwise you need to powder if you want this to last!

  8. Hello! Is it okay to just use fingers to blend the foundation or is it better to use a brush?

  10. OC3 would match you better! They both blend out very well and are not very obviously different on the face! The lasting power is not very long though, I recommend setting with a powder!
