Review: Hada Labo Air BB Cream in Natural Beige!

Air BB Cream! For the last 5 years BB creams and BB products have just exploded! I've tried quite a few BB creams by now and when I saw this by Hada Labo I just had to get it despite already having more than enough foundations at home. For those who don't know Hada Labo is a Japanese skincare brand which is known for being gentle and effective.

There were only two shades for this product which is very typical of BB creams traditionally to have only 1, 2 or 3 shades at most. The shade I have, Natural Beige is the lighter of the two.

Packaging!

Much like the majority of Hada Labo's skincare range, this BB product from them is very cleanly and simply packaged and designed. I would say that there is an overload of information on the back of the exterior box with the long list of claims for this product, however it's not too crowded like many other Asian brands typically are with their outside packaging. The tube itself gives off a clinical look with lends to the fact that Hada Labo is mainly a skincare brand. You're also getting 40ml of product which is more than the usual 30ml.

Product!
Keeping in mind that Hada labo is a skincare brand I was expecting this BB cream to be somewhat 'light' or light in coverage for some reason as I've experienced either very sheer or extremely pigmented when it comes to foundation from skincare companies. This product had 10 'functions' it promised and I was very pleased when the product does really seem to meet most of the promises.

The BB cream has a clinical, vegetal smell which is pleasant and the texture is of a medium consistency. The color which I picked is the lighter of the two shades available, the other is called "Ivory beige" but is actually more beige and brown tone than this one which is very yellow.

It has a medium coverage, definitely brightens the skin, covers up darkness under the eyes and has a demi-matte finish which I really like. I found that set with my ZA two way foundation powder this really lasts the whole day without caking up or looking obviously faded. I really enjoyed that this has a very natural look without being sheer.

Overall this shade is a good match for those with obvious yellow/golden undertones are around NC20. The other shade seems better for those with neutral tones but also around NC20. Here are swatches of the BB cream next to others I have owned. It's quite clear next to the others how yellow Hada Labo's is! These all however work very well for me with the exception of The Face Shop's being a tad too grey in person.

As seen below this BB cream does a good job at coverage up minor blemishes and darkness under the eyes. It's a great formula for those with slightly dry skin and even for those with slightly oily skin as it's not very creamy and not oily at all.

Close up, you can see that this is a medium coverage BB, my freckles and slight bumps are just barely visible but I've got lots of coverage which is more important to me. This product has a lovely finish on its own but those with oilier skin like me a setting powder would make it feel better.

Paid: $19.90 SGD or about $14 USD

(This is a bargain with 40ml as most drugstore BB's are a standard 30ml or give less for this price)

Recommend: Yes, this BB cream is an affordable option that's great for dry, normal and even slightly oily skin. The only issue is that you must be fair-light complexion because there are only two shades.

Repurchase: No, despite being a decent product it's not such a wow that I feel compelled to repurchase this. There are too many new things to try all the time!

Bottom line: A great drugstore option for those of fair complexion. This BB has solid medium coverage, feels light and lasts without any caking. For those who haven't tried any of Hada Labo's skincare, I highly recommend you do so and if you're keen on a BB for daily use, this one is worth checking out.
