Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup!

Get your 'Naked Skin' on! I've wanted to try this foundation from Urban Decay since it came out several years ago. I just love the packaging and the range and tones of colors they had. Since my skin has been pretty much clear with the rare blemish now and again the last few years I had no worries getting this as it's a base known to be best worn on skin that doesn't need much coverage. I mean, I guess it's called "Naked" for a reason!

This was part of my first Sephora beauty haul back at the end of last year! (See the haul here) Items in Sephora in Singapore tend to be quite marked up and hence it's taken me this long to buy things from them despite being okay with dropping a ton of money in the pharmacy for make up all the time!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in shade 3.0!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in shade 3.0!
This foundation claims to be 'light diffusing' and 'peptide infused'!
Made in Canada which is quite unusual for products found in Singapore, it's a foundation that needs to be shook before use due to its thin texture.
To be honest, I think their "clinical studies" was quite unnecessary. I mean don't 95-100% of people's skin look better when there is foundation on? This just doesn't make sense for a foundation test. I know some foundations are lousy and make skin look worse but the majority make skin look better if not feel better.
This foundation has many claims, many which basically translate to "really good looking natural skin" but also this foundation is suppose to have lots of good ingredients too. I found that the majority of the claims are true after using it although it's hard to know whether or not the special ingredients are doing anything much to my skin.

Packaging!

Firstly, without even getting to the actual bottle, the rose tinted gunmetal color of the exterior box packaging is really pretty. Eye catching, sleek and the the words 'Naked' in the front we're all so familiar with seeing on the Naked eyeshadow palette! The foundation bottle itself is quite a gorgeous piece. Not exactly slim or the most travel friendly but it is made of a plastic material which prevents it from easily cracking.

It's designed so that there is a layer of the clear plastic around that holds the foundation giving the illusion of the product being suspended in a vial within the bottle. Note that this foundation has a pump which is a gunmetal color which matches the cap. Overall practically designed, pretty and sleek looking although bulkier than necessary.

Product!

Not knowing exactly what to expect despite reading quite a few reviews, this foundation seemed to be best on those with normal skin and those who didn't require much coverage. I have always like more thin foundations and when I swatched this in store I love how it felt. This range has a massive 18 shades with shades ending in '.5' being cool tone.

I picked out shade 3 in after swatching shade 2 as well in store. I've always had the best luck picking foundations by eye and against my inner arm which matches my face closely however immediately after my first application I was slightly concerned that the shade was a tad tan but has ended up being perfect.

Being very thin in consistency, this foundation blends and applies very easily. It's layers up nicely too and I like using two layers for a light-medium coverage. For any darker scars or red blemishes a separate concealer will definitely be needed. I found that this foundation does a great job at making dark or uneven colored areas look much improved with using a concealer on top. It also feels very lightweight and comfortable being still a bit dewy to the touch.

Before and after wearing Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in shade 3.0!

I set my foundation with a pressed powder as normal but on its own the foundation does have the claimed "demi-matte" finish which I think looks like great natural skin. Not too dewy and shiny but not completely matte, for those with dryer skin or who will be indoors in air conditioning maybe setting it with a loose powder is a better idea.

Despite its runny formula and very natural light coverage, together with a pressed powder I found this lasting very well through the day, heat and humidity. The skin definitely looks "Naked" but perfect with this on without it being very obvious that there's a lot of product on the face.

Paid: $62 SGD or about $47 USD (Purchased at Sephora in Singapore)

Recommend: Yes, for the ladies who firstly have the budget and prefer runnier foundations that provide a natural coverage. This is best for those with normal skin and will work for combination skin if you use a good pressed powder.

Repurchase: No, although this looks fabulous now that I have a method down to pat, I have other product to work through and look forward to trying foundation from other brands!

Bottom line: Best for skin that needs minimal coverage, this foundation really makes the skin look naturally 'naked' and flawless. It's a runny formula, semi-matte in finish and gives the most natural glow. Set with a powder, this lasts a whole day and areas that wear off are not obvious. With the huge range of shades, there's a color for everyone.

Have you tried any face products from Urban Decay?
Considering getting some "Naked Skin"?

I like the fact that this foundation is weightless with good natural coverage. Definitely worthwhile to pay a bit more for its quality!

  6. The finish def looks very flawless yet very natural. This foundation is already on my wish list and upon reading your review, I think even though I really like the finish on you, this might be a bit lacking in oil control for my Tzone.. Thank you for the honest and in depth review, Sharlynn!

  12. This looks so amazing on you. I actually tried a sample of this and it unfortunately didn't do it for me. I got oily (like, real oily) in a couple of hours!

  13. I've tried this foundation and did like it, but I feel like I had my bottle for too long (less than a year?) because it turned darker in the bottle D: I usually don't get lighter and so I was soo frustrated about that.

  14. Great review! I was wondering about trying this foundation. I don't think I will because I need a bit more coverage than it seems to offer.

  15. MADE IN CANADA??? AWW YISS, CANADA REPRESENT!!! (Though really, Canada is such a weird place to manufacture cosmetics?)

I wanted to love this foundation (PACKAGING SO AESTHETICALLY PLEASING! SO MANY SHADES!) but I didn't get along with it when I tried a sample of it a few years back. I think I didn't like the finish and coverage back then, but who knows? Maybe current Vanessa might like it a bit more because I prefer lighter coverage bases these days. But yes, it looks quite amazing on you--can definitely tell that it's quite lightweight!
