Foodie day: 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken and a BBQ at home!

Crispy chicken and a BBQ! As many of you know, my blog is frequented by two main things: beauty things and foodie things! Today I bring you two food occasions that I had last month, firstly an at home BBQ I had with my boyfriend and a delicious fast food meal at a fried chicken place that's super popular in Singapore!

Having a BBQ with friends and family is a common weekend of occasion meal which many singaporeans like to have however it's not something I do more than twice a year usually despite having a garden with my home!

Continue below for the delicious food!
4 Fingers Crispy Chicken and a BBQ at home!
The first 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken outlet in the basement of Orchard Ion mall! It used to only have a long communal bench table seating and one or two small tables but now has taken over the shop to the left and has more seats!
Their menu featuring their famous, very delicious, super crispy and tasty chicken winglettes and drumlettes!
The shop used to only have the seating in this photo and not the seats after the divider! It's still as crowded as ever though! A lot of people have to end up taking away their food!
Their additional seats as of a year or two ago! My boyfriend in the blue giving me squinty eyes pre-hair cut looking like he's wearing a wig!
Don't say we're crazy but we ordered 18 pieces!!! To share of course! Unfortunately despite the chicken being as awesome as it usually is, this time there was too much of the spicy/salty soy sauce on quite a few pieces which made them SOOOO SALTY. We couldn't finish and brought the rest home, after reheating them in the oven they were much less salty tasting for some reason!
Luckily I had this chicken wrap which wasn't salty at all and was refreshing and zesty! Loved having a lime to squeeze onto it too! This is totally worth trying for those who want something else than their fried items!
On the same night my boyfriend and I did a BBQ for ourselves! In my family's old but 'new' small BBQ pit we cooked a mix of vegetables, satay, sausages, shrimp and sweet potato!
A yummy bowl of fresh fruit and vegetable salad that I made for each of us!
Lime and chilli marinated prawns! A quick hot flash on the BBQ to cook them and make the shells crisp and a bit charred!
My two family dogs out and about in our garden!
My boyfriend tending to the BBQ!
All of our food getting nicely charred on the BBQ. I'm not someone afraid of burnt food, the little burnt bits always taste the best anyway!
Dinner ready for two! It was almost too much food! Considering that I ate rice as well as I love rice with BBQ food, it was a bad move though as it just made me feel soooo full afterwards!
Close up shot of our food: Beef satay, cherry tomatoes, onions, pumpkin, sweet potato, chilli lime prawns and assorted sausages!
A short while after dinner, I decided on the spur of the moment that I wanted to roast marshmallows! The fire was gone but the coals were still stinking hot! Luckily I recently bought a pack of marshmallows and had chocolate spread at home!
There we go! A la minut almost smores freshly assembled! There's nothing like BBQ food and a charcoal roasted marshmallow!

Hope this post was a fun to read! I really enjoy BBQ meals, although they tend to take a while, are a bit messy and I always tend to eat until I'm super stuffed! However due to the fact that they aren't a common meal I just enjoy myself!

When was the last time you ate a BBQ meal?
How do you feel about fried chicken?
Let me know!

Feel free to comment!
Thank you!

  4. Hi Sharlynn,

I reckon this 4-fingers chicken must be a new shop... or maybe I was rushing thru ion and didn't see it. The chicken look yummy.

Nice that your boyfriend is cooking all the BBQ for you. And of course, BBQ marshmallow is always a must for us too! Yum!

    1. Well you can always BBQ your shrimp plain or with a seasoning of salt/pepper and butter but what we did was marinate it in a ziplock with lime juice and chopped chillis and corriander! Then it's best to cook it over a good medium fire that's not too hot so that it's cooked through and the shell is nice and crisp!

  9. ON NOM NOM! I love BBQs for the social aspect! The last one we had was for my bfs birthday, we had 10 people around and ate so much lamb and satay. In fact we only ever have BBQs when lots of people come around, if it's just us two we can never be bothered.

On a side note, is that a husky?!?! My bf really wants a mountain malamute. He will have to walk it though because I cannot go on 5 km runs every day haha.
