Review: Estee Lauder Travel Exclusive Pure Color Gloss Collection! (Duty Free)

Pure Color Gloss Collection! I've always been one who loves to buy, collective and give mini sized duty free products. Everytime I take a flight and have to pass through an airport that has a good cosmetic section at duty free I'll easily take half an hour to an hour and a half browsing, swatching and buying at least one or two items!

Here we have a gorgeous set of mini sized lipglosses from Estee Lauder! For the last 6 months and still currently at duty free in south east asia. In the past I've bought a set of Dior lipglosses at duty free (see review here) and a Juicy tubes set from Lancome (see review here) so I just had to get this!

Packaging!

At first sight this set is totally eye candy! So gorgeously and simply packaged in a hard plastic case box with the signature navy blue and shiny finish gold! I'm a huge fan of small sized products and I really appreciate how simple and yet elegant these little tubes are! Unlike the full size where the tube is thicker and a print of the letters "EL" on the golden caps these are a simplified, lightweight and easy to carry around version!

It's so much like the lipgloss set I purchased at duty free from Dior (my review here), where they reduced the regular bulkier more fancy packaging for the simple, small pretty tubes that are stunning nonetheless! This set of glosses comes with a simple slanted doe foot applicator which picks up a small amount of product so you need dip the applicator in a few times to get enough product!

Product!

I've never tried any Estee Lauder lip products before and although the colors of these are so opaque in the tube I already kept in mind that it's likely these glosses will turn out much more sheer on the skin/lips. On first impression in the tubes these look like they maybe a shimmery bomb but much like its other high end counterparts the amazing complex multidimensional shimmer doesn't feel gritty or show up like chunks on the lips.

The texture of the gloss is a slightly sticky and thicker formula which stays on the lips very well and will not budge out of the lip line! Something to note which wasn't a surprise to me is the pigmentation. The two light pinks performed a lot better than I'd expected actually, being as pigmented as they are in the tube although they aren't opaque of course. However the stunning coral shade barely shows up as a light orange tint! The two deeper shades are super stunning and can easily be layered to be very opaque looking!

As someone who has lips that tend to get dry very easily and peels a lot I tend to buy more moist, super light and non-sticky formulas but this one sits very well on my lips although it doesn't last very long. The shimmer besides being a pretty slight sparkly also doubles as a lip peeling cover up! For those who have peeling lips, a gloss with fine shimmer can help mask and make it seem invincible!

Overall I really loved every color in this set and used a shade or two myself for a while but I ended up giving away one two to my grandmother, one to my mother and the other two to my friend! If I were to compare this to my favorite (and only other) high end lipgloss the Dior Addict gloss I'd repurchase the Dior as it's much more thin in texture and moist which suits my lips. The Estee Lauder line however has gorgeous colors too and if you're okay with slightly tackier textures do check it out!

Just check out that glossiness! They seriously look like glass at some angles!

Paid: About $50 SGD or about $37 USD (purchased at Duty Free)

Recommend: Yes! For those who are passing through Duty Free at an airport do check this out! If this set isn't for you there's another lipgloss (without shimmer) and multiple lipstick sets from them!

Repurchase: No, although I love buying these sets I never repurchase such items twice unless I'm going to give it away!

Bottom line: A seriously stunning set of lipglosses that make a great gift or just a great way to try these luxurious lipglosses! They're awesome for bringing around and look great on their own! Do check them out at Duty Free!

  4. I always have a problem looking at travel exclusive sets, I do't know what to by because there are way too many choices. They are perfect for gifts though.

  5. Rock Candy looks the gorgeous in the tube, but Raspberry is the prettiest in your swatches!
