Review: The Face Shop Mango Seed Cleansing Butter!

Mango Seed Cleansing Butter! Some months ago all The Body Shop's Camomile Cleansing balm was all I was seeing around and although I could get this here in store the price is just so ridiculously pricey that I decided on never picking it up. However I have to admit that I would like to try it, if only there was a smaller size on sale! Hence when I saw this cleansing butter from The Face Shop and it was half the price of The Body Shop's I had to pick it up to try!

In comparison to the Camomile balm, this is a 'butter' as it's more of a thick whipped buttery texture whereas The Body Shop's is a solid balm which isn't cream on touch. I knew I wasn't trying something that's a dupe but I just couldn't resist the mango seed scent!

The Face Shop Mango Seed Cleansing Butter! This is a nice simple tub and it holds a standard 200ml of product! I love the pastel yellow color to the packaging!
The Face Shop Mango Seed Cleansing Butter!
Packaging & Product!

In a super simple tub, it's very much a fun, bright and pretty looking tub! I like the pastel yellow color scheme and the sketches of mangos and a mango cut in half with the exposed seed on the cap. This really goes great with what the product is and the matching pale creamy yellow color of the product also adds to the fun of the product. Although I tend not to like tub products, things like body creams or products that are meant to be washed off I find to be okay in a tub. This is meant to be applied and then washed off so a tub makes sense.

This product is really something worth trying if you've never used a cleansing cream/balm type product. This really smells like a light sweet mango butter cream, nothing like a strong fragrant Indian or Thai mango but it's super pleasant and nice smelling. The texture of this is exactly like a creamy butter, it's not oily at all though!

It feels like a whipped thick moisturizer, it holds its form when you scoop a bit up with your fingers. This is meant to be massaged straight onto the face and then rinsed off with water. I've tried applying this straight onto my face and also onto my face when damp with water and I find this works best when the face isn't wet yet. The product seems to melt and remove more make up that way.

This product when rubbed on the face begins to melt off face make up pretty well and it turns into a serum like texture, I do like doing this with wet hands as it makes the product work better. This cleansing butter can remove all face make up and eye make up, all except my waterproof mascara (which is fine with me as I'll use my bi facil remover).

The Face Shop Mango Seed Cleansing Butter!
This product is great for those who don't wear a lot of super waterproof products or who are interested in trying a cleansing butter/balm/cream make up remover. This works relatively well for someone like myself who wears quite a bit of make up.

I also added a bit of apricot scrub like from St. Ives into this to make the make up removal 100%! Overall, this product should be suitable for all skin types as it's super gentle leaving the skin super supple, soft, non- greasy or dry at all!

The Face Shop Mango Seed Cleansing Butter!
Paid: $17.90 SGD U.P. or about $13.70 USD (I had bought this when there was a 15% sale)

Recommend: Yes, for those keen on trying a gentle and yummy smelling make up removal product this is worth a try! It's affordable and very nice to use! This would be great for those who use minimal to moderate amounts of make up.

Repurchase: No, although this was a lovely product to use and I've actually used it all up now I prefer using a face scrub and purifying cleanser for face make up removal!

Bottom line: A very yummy smelling, non greasy make up removal cleansing butter that does a really good job at removing face make up. However to remove waterproof gel eyeliner/mascara an oil remover will be needed.

Have you tried any make up cleansing butter/balms?
Do you like mango scents/products?

  1. I tried the other products of the Mango Seed Line and I really loved it. This cleansing cream sounds nice, too. I tried a cleansing cream from Missha once. But I discovered it doesn't clean that thoroughly as my other cleansers so I used it in the morning only. :)

  2. OOoh... I;m getting all excited with your description about melting the make up off the face and becoming like serum texture. I love mango but I don;t know if mango seed smells like mango. From the way you said it's a pleasant kinda mango that isn't too strong, I think I would love it.

I've replied to your comment on getting to know me getting to know you. Don't forget to check back.

  3. I've been loving cleansing balsam / butter lately. My favorite is the one from The Body Shop.. It won't remove any waterproof eye make up but it works very well for foundation or non waterproof make up. It feels very tender and not drying, perfect for the winter..
this one sounds nice! But I hope they will come up with cleansing butter that works for waterproof make up as well!

  5. Too bad it doesn't remove waterproof mascara, I believe The Body Shop one does.
