Rave review: Maybelline Color Tattoos! (looks included)

Tattoo me totally! I know people on youtube are sometimes going, "Oh I know I must be sooo late on this review!"...but here in blogsphere its even longer than the youtubing world I find! Especially when products release at different times in different parts of the world!

These wonderful Color Tattoos eyeshadows released late last year and the first few times I used these babies were in December for some looks out! I've been having nothing but great times with these glass pots!

Continue below for the review and looks!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in 25 Bad to the Bronze, 35 Tough as Taupe, 40 Tenacious Teal, 45 Bold Gold

Packaging & Product!

Let's jumo straight into these little sturdy glass pots of goodness! Firstly I love the packaging, thick and heavy in its weight, I've dropped some of these several times and not even a chip! The labeling on the cover has all the info for the product which is a necessity. The only issue about the packaging for me is that if the cap isn't screwed on completely with a good tight twist, they can and will dry out!I already have the one in Tough as Taupe, shrunked in from the edges because I left it for a few days without properly closing the cap!

Much to the delight of us ladies who enjoy the long wearing water proof qualities of make up, these emollient pots of goodness make perfect eye make up bases.  Either for increased adherence for other shadows or for color boosting, they also make great eyeliners and eyeshadows on their own!

Out of the four shades I have Bad to the Bronze, Tenacious Teal and Bold gold would make great on their own eyeshadows, I've found Tough as Taupe not as easy to blend out evenly as the other three shimmery shades!I've now used all of them a few times and am in love with Bad to the Bronze and Tenacious teal! I hope to pick up the purple and green next!

These all have a very smooth quality when applied and can be opaque with my choice of flat brush in two coats. They are true to color and are very very waterproof. The only problems I've had is with the Taupe shade being a bit difficult to blend out evenly and the gold shade becoming slightly flaky but that was likely due to my over applying the product.

Finger swatches of Maybelline Color Tattoo in 45 Bold Gold, 40 Tenacious Teal, 35 Tough as Taupe 25 Bad to the Bronze
Tough as Taupe, used as a base and left on the lid in this Drama Smokey look!
Bad to the Bronze, used as a base here on this easy purple look!
Bad to the Bronze used here as a base and left blended out above the crease!
Bold Gold, used all over the lid with gold shimmer eyeshadow on top.
Look at all the pretty shades! I love them all and will continue using them as bases and liners! (See how Tough as taupe has shrunken? That's due to a cap that wasn't closed tight enough!)

Paid: UP $15.90 SGD  or $12.60 USD (sometimes these are on sale between $13-$15)

Recommend: Yes! Interesting in colorful, long lasting waterproof shadow that work as a base, alone or as a liner? This is one of the most versatile and fun easy to use products! I love Bad to the Bronze and Tenacious Teal the most as for now!

Repurchase: Duh! After using them so many times now and having nothing but love I can't wait to pick up more colors and to possible get some that aren't found in Singapore!

Bottom line: Great color pay off, long wearing, easy to use and a beautiful choice of colors I can't emphasis how these are a must product to have if you are into eye make up!

What shades do you have from the Color Tattoos?
Are you a fan of cream shadows?
let me know!

  1. Ahh I am so in love with my CTT. Out of these I only have Tenacious Teal and it is my fave! I'd love to try Bad to the Bronze & Bold Gold, too. I also love Edgy Emerald & Pomegranate Punk but Painted Purple is too difficult to work with as it is so patchy, it sounds like Tough as Taupe. Great review chick xx

  6. I remember being so excited when these were released in Australia. We haven't had any other LE colours like in the US since the main release though. I love Bad to the Bronze - one of my HGs for sure, except that it does dry out over time. Love the look you created with Bold Gold :)

  12. These cream shadows are my favourites. The next colour that you should pick up is Pomegranate - I'm sure you'll like it too! By the way, I love the makeup you did using the eyeshadow :)

  15. Hmm, I'm always weary of 'cream' based eyeshadows because of the creases they create (even with a base/primer), but I love the vibrance that they bring, more so than your regular powder shadows, although I guess I already use 'color tattoos' to serve as eyeliner (just need to find a sturdier brush haha)!

Thanks for the review, as always :)
