Review: Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Pink Mosaic!

Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc goodness! Feast your eyes on one of my first high end buy in a long time, a first from Laura Mercier! I was sooo tempted to get a foundation from them as my first purchase from their brand but then I noticed these lovely testers! There were four shades for this in the Sephora I went into although there are 6 shades available in the full line!

Packaging!
The compact comes in a very sleek box that has a lovely finish, I love how the box packaging is very simplistic much like the actual compact. The color scheme of grays and browns works very well with the sophisticated look Laura Mercier exudes!

The compact has a bit of weight when held in your palm, it's made of plastic but is very solid and sturdy. It's a push button to release the top which has a nice sized mirror inside, I would've liked it even more if it were slightly larger but its decent enough.

The shimmer bloc is made of four parts, a square cut diagonally into triangles. The two on the left half are highlight shades of a champagne on the bottom and a pale frosty pink on the left. Above is the darkest shade, a rosy cranberry shade with a medium bronze on the right.

Product!

To be honest, I was been already sold on the reputation, reviews and shades I've seen from Laura Mercier products even before trying any! I was going for the tinted moisturizer and then ended up with this, having realized that I'd probably get more use out of this product!

I love how there are four shades, I can use them as eyeshadow, highlighter or a blush!

The product is a standard 6 grams, although for the hefty price tag, I would've liked a bit more! The shades you get in this 'pink mosaic' shimmer bloc are extremely wearable, I combine the cranberry with the bronze for a blush and use the highlight shades as a highlight on my cheeks or on the eyes!

This baked looking shimmery powder is so so smooth, silky and has the most consistent metallic sheen finish which is just gorgeous on the cheeks. Mixing the bronze and cranberry, they are not opaque on the cheeks, it seems to just be a slightly translucent quality to this as a blush but it's not a bad thing.

When using this product, I tend to contour as well, as it gives more depth to these colors and makes the blush more prominent as it is actually quite light in person. I'd say this as a blush has a light coverage whereas I typically love strong coverage in my blushes!

Mixing the cranberry rose and bronze shade for blush! A very natural brownish rose, combined with contouring this really pops on the cheek with the prettiest sheen! Great for those who like a satin finish and natural lighter color!
Paid: $65 SGD  or ( $52 USD)

Recommend: Firstly for those with the budget, those who love shimmer and those who love blushes/multitasking face products!

Repurchase: Not this product! One shimmer bloc is enough! I hope to try out a foundation next time!

Bottom line: Top notch quality, shades and packaging, the major downside is the fat price tag! I swear that I won't buy any blushes which cost more than $30 because dupe shades are soo common! However I found this very multitasking and took the plunge!

Have you tried anything from Laura Mercier?
What do you think of the color? like it?

  6. ooh wow how pigmented & lovely, what a nice splurge! I totally don't get that if they are so expensive, they should carry a bit more product! This is probably a product that would last for a while, anyway. So pretty on you! It doesn't look as metallic on the cheeks as what I had thought it would! xx

  7. Nice winged eyes. Love the look. I'm too old to go shimmer, but I do use it for contouring, like you have here.

Yes, the packaging is super sleek. It's lovely.
